If every Delta Air Lines lounge was like this one at #SXSW, I'd scurry to get access and get to the airport early every time I fly. 🛫 Bravo to the Delta Air Lines activations at SXSW, on-site, surrounding the event and at the airport. #experientialmarketing #travel #sxsw2024 #customerexperience #premiumbrandmarketing

Insightful panel discussion at #WorldAviationFestival2024 about how inflight connectivity increasingly shapes the digital cabin, featuring United Airlines, Condor Flugdienst GmbH, AERQ, and Seth Miller. Here are three key takeaways: - Investments are shifting away from canned content towards integration with third-party services on the ground. - The online and offline domains need to be combined into one cohesive experience. - For inflight connectivity, reliability and consistency are more important than achieving hundreds of megabits of throughput. To be continued! #SkyFive #InflightConnectivity Picture by Cyril JEAN. People from left to right: Seth Miller, Dirk Lindemeier, Dominic Green, Meike Pucher, Janina Kratz, Martin Orzechowski.

Are you like me when it comes to flying? Worried I will miss my flight, I like to arrive with lots of time. It's so stressful when it's super busy at security, but even more frustrating is when the flight is delayed. Did you know how crucial IT is for these airlines and airports, and how it can impact your experience? Aeroporti di Roma spoke about this last year at Innovate in Barcelona, and Air France-KLM will talk about how they are leveraging observability tools to make your flight less stressful. There are still some spots for you to join, but registration will probably close soon: https://lnkd.in/e_TNKnYc

I had the privilege of attending the World Aviation Festival 2024 last week in the vibrant city of Amsterdam. It was a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with former colleagues, especially from my Emirates days, and to meet new and current industry peers. Unsurprisingly, some of the hottest topics discussed were Data, AI/ML, Personalization, and Experimentation. I was particularly glad to see airline retailing—a topic that demands the industry’s full attention—receive significant discussion as well. It’s exciting to hear about the organizational changes happening at airlines, with traditional departments now collaborating to drive offer management and build order management systems. It’s also encouraging to see terms like “offers,” “orders,” and “retailing” appearing in job titles. While NDC (New Distribution Capability) has matured, there is still room for greater adoption. As one presenter pointed out, NPS (Net Promoter Score) on Direct and NDC channels is significantly higher compared to EDIFACT channels—so the industry should embrace NDC more rapidly. Creating bookings based on rich, personalized, and dynamic offers is just one piece of the puzzle. Content isn’t truly retail-ready if you can’t service it with full end-to-end capabilities. Personalization will remain a distant goal until booking modifications can be managed seamlessly. Delivery, fulfillment, and settlement become especially complex when managing non-air partners. OneOrder is essential to creating a one-stop shop for all customer service needs. Today, the airline industry looks to retailers like Amazon as a benchmark for customer experience. It’s time we set the standard so that other industries look to us for inspiration. Let’s come together as an industry to make this happen. Time is of the essence. As someone at the conference said, “If we are willing to change, we will find our way.” Picture below with Anand Lakshminarayanan. Good to see you, my friend. #WorldAviationFestival #AviationFest #Travel #Aviation #IATA #Airlines #AirlineRetailing #NDC #OrderManagement

Passenger Experience Conference 2024 – Innovating tomorrow's travel experiences For aviation, as well as other travel sectors, the passenger experience of the 2030s may be some way off, but the future starts here. A clear vision is needed about how to solve the frustrations and respond to the needs of the new cohorts of travellers who will be flying into the next decade. How should we design the friction points of today’s journey out of the system? How should we transform today’s challenges into tomorrow’s business opportunities? And what touch-points will provide value and delight for future passengers? If these are questions you need answered, be sure to join us in Hamburg at the Passenger Experience Conference (#PEC2024) on May 27 2024. #aviation #airlines #passengerexperience #OnboardInnovation #AIX2024 #WTCE2024
