Sea Smart’s mission is to get youth excited about our ocean and empower them to be ocean heroes! We empower youth by discussing the diverse threats our ocean faces and teaching tangible actions they can take to protect our marine ecosystems and make a positive difference in the world. "All life on Earth, including humanity, cannot exist without our oceans. But our ocean is in deep trouble. We must act now to save our ocean - and ourselves. One of the best ways to do this is to ensure our future generations are armed with the knowledge and skills they need to become environmental champions." - Dr. Elaine Leung. Sea Smart was founded by marine biologist, Dr. Elaine Leung, an international speaker and expert on ocean issues who’s inspired waves of change in the hearts and minds of people worldwide.

In 2019, TASCHEN published Lo—TEK, Design by Radical Indigensm, in which I coined a new term that looks to the past to envision an inclusive planetary future. In my second book of the Lo—TEK series titled Water to be published in Spring 2025, indigenous nature-based water technologies and contemporary water projects infused with traditional ecological knowledge are profiled. On World Book Day we're celebrating Lo—TEK—a movement to realign humankind with the planet by rebuilding an understanding of Indigenous and traditional knowledge systems for climate resilience.

One thing that the world may not fully realize is the profound interconnectedness of all living beings and the delicate balance of ecosystems that sustain life on our planet. While scientific understanding has advanced significantly, there is still much to learn about the intricate web of relationships between species and the complex dynamics of natural systems. Appreciating and respecting this interconnectedness can lead to greater environmental stewardship and promote harmony between humanity and the natural world. https://amzn.to/3xK5dp3

Register now for our Science to Policy Summit on May 15! Our topic is "Conservation as climate mitigation: Using carbon programs to protect and restore ecosystems." The Summit will take place at Lacamas Lake Lodge, and virtual attendance is also available. Carbon programs create financial incentives to reduce emissions and have the potential to be integrated into a variety of conservation and restoration programs. At the Science to Policy Summit 2024, carbon program business leaders, resource managers, researchers, and restoration practitioners will share the latest research on carbon sequestration, how carbon programs are currently operating, and how they are evolving to meet new restoration and conservation initiatives. Register: https://lnkd.in/gDpEN8z6 The Estuary Partnership initiated the Science to Policy Summit series in 2007 to expand the dialog among scientists, natural resource professionals and community leaders within the region. This will be the first recurrence of the Summit since 2019.

What does it mean to be an Earthling in our time on Earth? What even does ‘our’ mean? Does it include the rocks? In our climate and ecological crisis, we have the knowledge, technology and political frameworks to secure a future in which our children and grandchildren can thrive. The solutions that clear a path beyond the Anthropocene, where humans transform themselves from a destructive geological force to guardians and gardeners of the earth, are available. The solutions are not the problem, or rather, the solutions need to be at the level of the problem. At the fundamental level at which the climate and ecological crisis is occurring, we need to address the relationship between being and time. TURNING TO STONE: What is it like to be a planet? - is the freshly uploaded new bookreview by Mario Veen, of the book Turning Into Stone -Discovering the subtle wisdom of stones, by Marcia Bjornerud. WE SAY WE CAN STOP THE PLANET FROM HEATING UP FAST! Maybe we are wrong, but what if we are right? Please take a look at this peer reviewed paper (6 positive peer reviews, one publisher was too scared to publish it, because it overhauls the whole fundament of classic climatology)
Restoring the earth's damaged temperature regulation is the fastest way out of the climate crisis. Cooling the planet with plants
