💡 The 47-year-old patient presented with severe symptomatic MV stenosis (mean gradient 12 mmHg) and moderate regurgitation following MV repair seven years ago (previously: 28 mm Physio annuloplasty ring and quadrangular resection of the posterior leaflet). 💔 Intraoperatively, the repaired valve showed a central residual orifice with severely fused and thickened leaflets, making the valve unsuitable for re-repair. In addition, the implanted annuloplasty ring was dehiscent along the anterior valve annulus. 🏃♂️ Paragon 28 launches Phantom FIBULA NAIL system for fracture repair According to the company, the treatment of ankle fractures using a fibula nail has been shown to significantly reduce soft tissue complications compared to plate and screw fixation. It should come as no surprise that ZimVie’s new TSX implant can achieve 50Ncm of initial stability in the posterior maxilla as it has the same degree of taper and the same surgical protocol as the Tapered Screw-Vent (TSV) that I invented in 1999 and sold to ZimVie’s predecessor in 2001. Zimvie published the study below showing its TSV achieving higher torque levels than Nobel and Straumann implants. Implant Direct launched the Legacy implant in 2008 adding progressively deeper apical threads (and micro-threads) to the TSV. It took ZimVie 15 years to incorporate this type of design enhancement. The TSV’s list price is $505 whereas the TSX is $540. This is in contrast to the Legacy3 from Implant Direct at $200. Paragon’s GEN5 implant, shown below, is set for launch in October at $100. This is the same price my prior company, Core-Vent, charged for the straight Screw-Vent when I launched it in 1986. https://lnkd.in/gbTgXhXc
