Slurry photocatalytic water treatment systems often require costly and energy-intensive recovery processes. By using physical vapor deposition (#PVD), we accurately controlled the thickness and band edge ratio of thin-film #heterostructures. The developed thin-film #photocatalyst enables efficient detoxification of antibiotic solutions without the need for any post-treatment processes. A small update from our #FlashPhos and #Phoster workshop in Milano - great presentations so far, now the first "round" table. (It is not true that we deliberately chose the linear instead of the circular form to protest against the remainingly linear economy in the EU, but it's a nice thought.) It's most probably the first time that people from #chemicalindustry, #cementindustry, #batteryindustry, #fertiliserindustry, #sewagetreatment, #mechanicalengineering, #chemicalengineering, #environmentalengineering, #publicauthorities and #academia in one (virtual) room. The potential of new insights and exchange is extremely high, and the discussions show thatparallels between these fields are sometimes unexpectedly strong. Nature Reviews Clean Technology (a review journal of the Nature Portfolio at Springer Nature Group) is launching in January 2025. To showcase their interest in #technologies and processes that will be key in transitioning to more #sustainable human societies, they prepared a collection entitled "Clean Technology by Design". This collection presents some of the best reviews, perspectives, and opinion articles from various Nature-branded journals to highlight some of the topics the journal plans to cover. In checking the collection, I was delighted to see the presence of two milestone articles from my team at Nature Communications: the "now classic" perspective on lithium-based #batteries from Ulderico Ulissi, Matt Lacey and James Frith and the outstanding commentary article on #zinc and #lithium availability for batteries from Alessandro Innocenti, Stefano Passerini and co-authors 🔋⚡🔋⚡ Kudos to Laura Zinke and their team for preparing this collection, and I wish them all the best for the launching of the journal in 2025 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Links to access the collection and Nature Communications perspective and commentary articles are in the first comment!
