🌍 In celebration of World Food Day 2024, Synercore proudly upholds the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on zero hunger, poverty alleviation, good health and wellbeing, and quality education. We are committed to supporting the WFD campaign on October 16, 2024, enhancing food security in our communities. This year’s #WorldFoodDay theme highlights the “Right to foods for a better life and a better future.” 'Foods’ stands for diversity, nutrition, affordability, accessibility and safety. A greater diversity of nutritious foods should be available in our fields, fishing nets, markets, and on our tables, for the benefit of all. Today, challenges like climate variability, economic downturns, and conflicts worsen hunger. World Food Day 2024 seeks solutions to ensure everyone has access to diverse, safe, and nutritious food. FAO enthuses, "As a global community, collective action is paramount. Governments, the private sector, farmers, academia, civil society, and individuals must collaborate to ensure access to diverse, nutritious, and safe food for all. Each of us plays a role in addressing inequality and poverty, making healthy food choices to increase availability, reducing food waste, and safeguarding the environment." 🌍 World Food Day🌽 The world has made tremendous progress in science, technology, medicine, AI, …yet we are still falling short in ensuring one of the most basic human rights: access to food for all. Today, I wish I could remove World Food Day from my agenda but the reality is far too pressing. Food insecurity numbers remain alarming: • 828 million people live in severe food insecurity • 50 million are on the edge of famine • 45 million young children are suffering from severe malnutrition These figures are more than statistics - they represent lives at risk. Climate change and conflicts are intensifying the hunger crisis, creating a destructive cycle of food insecurity and instability. Today, for me, is not only a moment of reflection but also a call to action. There are solutions, and they are within our reach if we work together. That’s why, alongside World Food Programme and The Global FoodBanking Network, we’ve organized an internal Sodexo Stop Hunger webinar today on “The Pressing Issues of Food Insecurity, Food Waste and Food Surplus” to confront these challenges head-on. How can the private sector contribute, especially those embedded in the food system value chain? Here are a few ways we can make a difference: • Reducing food waste and redistributing surplus food to NGOs. Food waste is a significant driver of climate change, biodiversity loss, and food insecurity. • Supporting NGOs with emergency aid to provide immediate relief for those in crisis, while promoting long-term private sector investment in sustainable solutions. • Promoting regenerative agriculture to strengthen local food systems and encourage sustainable farming practices. ✨ Together, we have the power to advocate for a future where hunger no longer exists. Let’s join forces and create a movement for lasting change. ✨ #worldfoodday #stophunger #wfp #GFBN #zerohunger #sdg2 #sustainability #foodinsecurity #changemakers Sophie Bellon, Anna NOTARIANNI, Nathalie Brindeau, Basak C., Debby Montelly, Christelle Mfufu, Claire GRAU-VINCHON, Bruno Bijaksic, Laura Marchal-Chaud, Virginia Villar Arribas, Ellie Failes, Julie Wagner, Laura Lourdelle, Meredith Kruger Kos, Nantaporn T.

#FoodInsecurity Food insecurity is a critical global problem that affects millions of people around the world. It refers to a situation where individuals or households lack adequate access to food to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. Several factors contribute to this, including poverty, conflict, climate change, and inequality. The global food system is currently confronted with several challenges, including: Hunger and malnutrition: More than 820 million people around the world suffer from hunger, and millions more experience malnutrition. Climate change: Increasing temperatures and extreme weather events have a significant impact on agricultural productivity and the availability of food. Conflict and displacement: Wars and conflicts result in food insecurity, displacement, and hunger. Inequality: Food distribution and access are often unequal, with marginalized communities facing greater food insecurity. Food waste: Approximately one-third of all food produced worldwide is lost or wasted, exacerbating the problem of food insecurity. In order to tackle food insecurity, it is crucial for the international community to collaborate and focus on the following areas: - Enhancing the availability and accessibility of food. - Improving agricultural productivity and sustainability. - Strengthening food distribution and storage systems. - Providing support to marginalized communities. - Minimizing food waste and loss. - Addressing the challenges posed by climate change and conflict. Solutions include: 1. Implementing sustainable agriculture practices. 2. Providing food aid and assistance programs. 3. Implementing social protection policies. 4. Promoting climate-resilient agriculture. 5. Focusing on conflict resolution and peacebuilding. 6. Reducing and recycling food waste. Achieving global food security requires a collective effort from governments, international organizations, civil society, and individuals. It is crucial that we collaborate to establish a fair and sustainable food system for everyone. #economy #economics #writeup #globaleconomy #foodinsecurity #poverty #climatechange #inequality #globalfoodsystem #challenges #internationalcommunity #focus #solutions #linkedIn

Today, on #WorldFoodDay, let's advocate with FAO for the right to food for a better life and future. 🌍 Despite producing enough food for the global population, hunger persists—affecting 733 million people due to climate shocks, conflicts, economic downturns, inequality, and the pandemic. This crisis impacts the poor and vulnerable, often agricultural households, highlighting growing inequalities. Food is a fundamental human need, and everyone should have the right to nutritious, affordable, accessible, safe and sustainable food. 📎 Join in to support food security: https://lnkd.in/ekyVGHK7 #Safe2EatEU #WorldFoodDay #FoodSafety #EUFoodStandards #HealthyLiving #SustainableFoodSystem #AgriculturalPractices #MinimiseFoodWaste #GlobalFoodSecurity

While food sustains life, millions of people around the world still face food insecurity, unsure of where their next meal will come from. The harsh reality is that hunger is not just about the availability of food, but also about access and equity. The gap between those who have enough to eat and those who don't is widening due to conflicts, climate change, and economic inequality. We must strive for sustainable systems, fair food distribution, and innovative solutions to feed every person on this planet. 💡 Let’s pledge to: 1. Advocate for policies that support sustainable agriculture and food distribution. 2. Support local initiatives that address hunger and malnutrition. 3. Reduce food waste by being more mindful in our own consumption. It’s time to recognize that food is a fundamental right and take meaningful steps to ensure that no one goes to bed hungry. World Food Day 2024 Hunger in a World of Plenty In a world that’s more connected than ever, with technology advancing at lightning speed and resources at our fingertips, it’s hard to imagine that 1 in 9 people worldwide go to bed hungry every night! That’s over 828 million people struggling without access to basic food. It’s not just a number—it’s families, children, and communities that go to bed not knowing where their next meal will come from. But did you know that we produce enough food to feed 10 billion people? That's more than the current global population! Yet, nearly **30% of that food** is lost or wasted. From farm to table, inefficiencies and inequality leave millions starving while others live in abundance. 🌱What can we do? - Cut food waste: A shocking 1.3 billion tons of food are wasted every year. - Empower local farmers: Small-scale farmers produce over 70% of the world’s food, yet many live in poverty. By supporting sustainable farming practices, we can uplift rural communities and ensure access to food for all. - Build resilient food systems: Climate change is threatening food security. Investing in climate-smart agriculture and innovation can help us feed future generations. On this World Food Day, let's turn awareness into action. Whether it's volunteering with local food banks, supporting sustainable brands, or simply being mindful of the food on your plate—every step counts. 🍽️ The goal is clear: Zero Hunger by 2030. It’s ambitious, but with determination, and collaboration, we can create a world where no one is left hungry. Let’s take that first step together.
