🌍 In celebration of World Food Day 2024, Synercore proudly upholds the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on zero hunger, poverty alleviation, good health and wellbeing, and quality education. We are committed to supporting the WFD campaign on October 16, 2024, enhancing food security in our communities. This year’s #WorldFoodDay theme highlights the “Right to foods for a better life and a better future.” 'Foods’ stands for diversity, nutrition, affordability, accessibility and safety. A greater diversity of nutritious foods should be available in our fields, fishing nets, markets, and on our tables, for the benefit of all. Today, challenges like climate variability, economic downturns, and conflicts worsen hunger. World Food Day 2024 seeks solutions to ensure everyone has access to diverse, safe, and nutritious food. FAO enthuses, "As a global community, collective action is paramount. Governments, the private sector, farmers, academia, civil society, and individuals must collaborate to ensure access to diverse, nutritious, and safe food for all. Each of us plays a role in addressing inequality and poverty, making healthy food choices to increase availability, reducing food waste, and safeguarding the environment." Today, on #WorldFoodDay, let's advocate with FAO for the right to food for a better life and future. 🌍 Despite producing enough food for the global population, hunger persists—affecting 733 million people due to climate shocks, conflicts, economic downturns, inequality, and the pandemic. This crisis impacts the poor and vulnerable, often agricultural households, highlighting growing inequalities. Food is a fundamental human need, and everyone should have the right to nutritious, affordable, accessible, safe and sustainable food. 📎 Join in to support food security: https://lnkd.in/ekyVGHK7 #Safe2EatEU #WorldFoodDay #FoodSafety #EUFoodStandards #HealthyLiving #SustainableFoodSystem #AgriculturalPractices #MinimiseFoodWaste #GlobalFoodSecurity

In Europe, #FoodInsecurity is also a growing concern, highlighting the urgency of addressing these inequalities and ensuring that everyone regardless, has the right to adequate and nutritious food. On this day, let’s renew our efforts to ensure that everyone, everywhere, can exercise their right to adequate food—𝘢 𝘧𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵—and strive to support sustainable and resilient food systems for all. 📌 https://lnkd.in/dQb-C9qy

Join us this month for a discussion on school feeding, food system reform and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 💡 Our food systems are failing humanity. Millions go hungry. Food markets generate vast profits whilst fuelling poverty and marginalisation, notably among the rural poor. Unsustainable, carbon-intensive agriculture is wreaking environmental havoc, and unhealthy diets are driving an epidemic of obesity. In this event, key findings from a new report on school feeding and the SDGs will be presented, followed by three panel discussions on the main themes. Speakers: Sara Pantuliano (moderator) | Kevin Watkins | Ana Toni | Henry Musa Kpaka | Purnima Menon | Elisabetta Aurino | Aki Nishio | Liesbet Steer | Roman Krznaric 🗓️ 18 November ⏰ 14:00-15:30 GMT 🔗 Sign up: https://buff.ly/3CdGTyh In partnership with The Learning Generation Initiative, edc.org and the Sustainable Financing Initiative. #SchoolFeeding #FoodSystems #SDGs #EndHunger

Can We Feed the World? 🌽🌍The Hidden Faces of Hunger 02 Food security is the state at which food have to be available, accessible, effectively utilized and have stability. These were highlighted in my previous post. Today, we're going to delve deeper into the factors that contribute to food insecurity. Food insecurity is a state of being without reliable access to sufficient quantities of affordable, nutritious food.🤌🏼 It involves uncertainty about where the next meal will come from or the inability to obtain nutritious food in a socially acceptable way. This is a pressing concern that affects millions of people worldwide. 🌽 Poverty: Poverty is a significant driver of food insecurity, limited financial resources restrict access to nutritious food, forcing individuals and households to rely on cheaper, less healthy options. As the wealthy tend to have better access to food, the poor struggle to make ends meet. 🌽 Conflict and Political Instability: Conflict and political instability can severely disrupt food systems, leading to food shortages, price increases, and reduced access to food. Refugees and internally displaced persons are particularly vulnerable to food insecurity due to their limited access to resources and infrastructure. 🌽 Climate Change: Extreme weather events, such as droughts, floods, and heatwaves, can devastate crops and livestock, impacting food production and availability. 🌽 Soil Degradation and Fertility: Soil degradation and fertility decline can reduce crop yields and impact food security. Soil erosion, nutrient depletion, and salinization can all contribute to reduced soil fertility. 🌽Economic Shocks: Economic downturns, job losses, and rising food prices can erode food security, especially for vulnerable populations. Food security is a complex issue, influenced by a multitude of factors. Understanding these factors is essential for developing effective strategies to address food insecurity. By addressing poverty, conflict, climate change, and other factors affecting food security, we can work towards a future where everyone has access to nutritious food. What do you think are the most significant factors contributing to food insecurity in our country? #FoodInsecurity Food insecurity is a critical global problem that affects millions of people around the world. It refers to a situation where individuals or households lack adequate access to food to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. Several factors contribute to this, including poverty, conflict, climate change, and inequality. The global food system is currently confronted with several challenges, including: Hunger and malnutrition: More than 820 million people around the world suffer from hunger, and millions more experience malnutrition. Climate change: Increasing temperatures and extreme weather events have a significant impact on agricultural productivity and the availability of food. Conflict and displacement: Wars and conflicts result in food insecurity, displacement, and hunger. Inequality: Food distribution and access are often unequal, with marginalized communities facing greater food insecurity. Food waste: Approximately one-third of all food produced worldwide is lost or wasted, exacerbating the problem of food insecurity. In order to tackle food insecurity, it is crucial for the international community to collaborate and focus on the following areas: - Enhancing the availability and accessibility of food. - Improving agricultural productivity and sustainability. - Strengthening food distribution and storage systems. - Providing support to marginalized communities. - Minimizing food waste and loss. - Addressing the challenges posed by climate change and conflict. Solutions include: 1. Implementing sustainable agriculture practices. 2. Providing food aid and assistance programs. 3. Implementing social protection policies. 4. Promoting climate-resilient agriculture. 5. Focusing on conflict resolution and peacebuilding. 6. Reducing and recycling food waste. Achieving global food security requires a collective effort from governments, international organizations, civil society, and individuals. It is crucial that we collaborate to establish a fair and sustainable food system for everyone. #economy #economics #writeup #globaleconomy #foodinsecurity #poverty #climatechange #inequality #globalfoodsystem #challenges #internationalcommunity #focus #solutions #linkedIn
