The Second PLATINA4Action Technology Transfer Workshop on the Greening of the Inland Waterway Fleet in Belgium and France has officially started! ! 🚢✨ The Workshop began with Janeta TOMA, from the host orgnization the European Inland Waterway Transport Platform, at the premises of the University of Antwerp, delivering the opening remarks, followed by Martin Quispel, Expertise- en InnovatieCentrum Binnenvaart, who set the scene by presenting the context and goals of the PLATINA4Action and Innovation Action SYNERGETICS projects. The first session was filled with insights into national and regional greening policies and support programmes in Belgium and France. The presentations that followed offered detailed overviews into the efforts being made in both Belgium and France to support the green transition in inland navigation. Marc DELAUDE Service public de Wallonie shared details about Wallonia’s regional aid programme for fleet greening, while Christophe Bruglemans, De Vlaamse Waterweg nv presented the details of the Flemish Green Deal and its role in driving sustainability in inland navigation. From France, Cécile Cohas and Augustin H. from Voies navigables de France (VNF) gave complementary presentations. Cécile outlined France’s roadmap for greening the inland fleet, focusing on innovation-driven solutions, while Augustin introduced the PAMI programme, which supports the modernisation and innovation of the fleet. These insightful presentations also sparked lively discussions with ship owners, who raised thought-provoking questions and shared their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities of adopting greener technologies.
