Leonardo Canada - Electronics’ Post

Today we're excited to feature Gabe de Puyjalon, Head of Operations at Leonardo Canada Electronics. Gabe oversees the company’s shared services and business functions, Managing a wide range of critical operations that keep LCE running smoothly. Gabe de Puyjalon is responsible for a multitude of areas within LCE, including I.T. systems, security, facilities, quality management, corporate finance, and tax management. His role extends to ensuring compliance with group and parent company directives. Gabe oversees full-cycle human resources and talent management strategies, recruitment, employee relations, health and safety, diversity, inclusion, and much more. He finds his role far from boring and enjoys staying busy and actively engaged in supporting both the people and the business at LCE. Gabe's journey began with a part-time contract to help shore up HR and operations and create a shared services model. Guided by the motto "It's all about the UX" (User Experience), Gabe knows the importance of delivering positive experiences in all aspects of his work. His passion for catalyzing people to perform at their best inspired him to pursue this career path. A significant mentor in Gabe's career has been his long-time friend and colleague, Dave Johnson. Describing Dave as a true professional—articulate, balanced, and reasonable no matter what life throws at him—Gabe continues to always emulate Dave’s even-keeled nature. A particularly memorable moment in Gabe's career was working with a team of talented, and driven international contributors on the PMI Code of Ethics & Professional Conduct Advisory Council. Working with global professionals who are the best in their field, stands out as a highlight of his career. Outside of work, Gabe enjoys playing his guitars, skiing, spending time with family, paddling outrigger canoes, and contributing to the success of competitive dragon boat teams, both as a paddler and a coach. His Dragon Boat coaching has positively impacted many people in the Ottawa area, including many future professionals with the Carleton University Paddlers. For those looking to pursue a career in his field, Gabe advises gathering every bit of life and work experience, both positive and negative, and applying that knowledge to everything you do. He emphasizes the importance of continuous learning and maintaining a sense of humor, advising to "take what you do seriously, but don't take yourself so seriously." Gabe relies on industry news, benchmarking best practices, and staying informed about less successful practices to protect the integrity of LCE, and his own sanity. Gabe believes that what sets LCE apart from others in the industry is “hands-down probably some of the best, smartest, most capable minds in our industry.” LCE will continue to make a positive and significant difference in the capabilities of its clients across Canada and worldwide. Thank you, for sharing your story and insights with us!
