Since 1983, when it became Australia’s first hard rock lithium mine, our Greenbushes Lithium Operation has led the way in lithium mining and processing innovation. While having the best ore body in the world certainly helps, it is our people and the wider South West community who have been central to our success. This is why it was a proud moment for our CEO, Rob Telford, to be invited to participate in a panel the South West Development Commission's Innovative Industries of the Future Conference. Greenbushes is a globally significant operation, providing a critical mineral at scale, integral to the global transition to cleaner energy. Rob shared Talison’s vision for the future and emphasised that Talison is eager to engage meaningfully with stakeholders, particularly community and government to balance its expansion plans with the region’s objectives and find ways to collaborate effectively. Thank you to the SWDC for the invitation to participate on the panel, and to the moderator, GHD Energy and Resources Executive Leader Mike Nolan, as well as fellow panellists, International Graphite Chair Phil Hearse and Green Steel of WA Co-founder Don Johnston, for such an interesting and honest conversation.

It was an honor to address industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders during the luncheon at the American Exploration & Mining Association conference in Reno, Nevada a few weeks ago. During my presentation, I shared insights on the critical role of copper in enabling a sustainable future. From renewable energy infrastructure to electric vehicles, copper is the backbone of the technologies driving our global transition. I provided a project update, highlighting our progress, challenges, and commitment to responsible mining practices as we develop Resolution Copper to be a world-class copper mine. Lastly, I shared why #IamMining and Why mining domestically matters—now more than ever. Ensuring a reliable, ethically sourced supply of critical minerals like copper is essential for national security, economic growth, and achieving our climate goals. At Resolution Copper, we believe in the power of collaboration. Engaging with local communities and Native American Tribes, policymakers, and stakeholders is key to advancing projects that benefit society while protecting the environment. A huge thank you to AEMA for providing a platform to discuss the future of mining and its pivotal role in building a better tomorrow.

Our State continues to grow from strength to strength. We are pleased to announce that the following Queensland projects have secured funding under the Australian Government’s $40M International Partnerships in Critical Minerals program: 🥇 $3.8M to Vecco Group: Progressing a vanadium flow battery supply chain 🥇 $3M to Graphinex: Establishing a Battery Anode Hub in Townsville to refine graphite 🥇$2.7M to Critical Minerals Group Ltd: Advancing battery-grade vanadium electrolyte production in Townsville and Mount Isa. 🥇$8M to Queensland Pacific Metals: Producing nickel and cobalt for clean energy projects. The funding is welcome news and builds on the support for our State’s critical mineral sector, adding to the financial assistance the Queensland Government has provided these, and other critical mineral developers, to help build a new mining and manufacturing industry in Queensland. Critical Minerals Queensland Lead, Paul Holden says: “These investments are a nod to the power of collaboration, innovation and good leadership in our critical minerals sector.”

With Bald Hill #lithium and tantalum mine put on C&M, we estimate the closure will remove 16kt LCE from our supply outlook in 2025 and another 21ktpa LCE in 2026. However, the concurrent release of a mineral resource update for Bald Hill will boost the asset's future and highlight its exploration potential. The asset's end-June 2024 resource totaled 58.1Mt at 0.94% Li2O, versus 21.7Mt at 0.95% as of June 2018, a sizable increase with minimal reduction in grade. The Bald Hill #lithium and tantalum mine is now on care and maintenance, which will cut our supply outlook by 16kt LCE in 2025 and another 21ktpa LCE in 2026. On a positive note, the recent mineral resource update shows promising exploration potential with a resource of 58.1Mt at 0.94% Li2O as of June 2024, up from 21.7Mt at 0.95% in 2018.
