I did it! All the practicing and anxiety about giving my 5th DisruptHR talk is over. The DisruptHR Tulsa event last night was great! Thank you Melissa Lockhart, SHRM-CP, SPHR and Kristi Spaethe, PHR, SHRM-CP for allowing me to be a speaker for your 8th event. There was great energy in the room. You two did an outstanding job organizing and hosting the event. It was a privilege to share the speaker 🎤 stage with Krystal Crockett, IOM, Burton Kelso, The Technology Expert (we both spoke at the DisruptHR Metro Omaha in 2019), Tery DeShong, Mike Williams, Jody Parsons, Ed.D, Jacqueline Howell, MHR, Rachael Melot, Kristin Afelumo, CDFA®, Steve Evans Ed., Amanda Kilpatrick and Alan Vanderburg MHR. If you've never experienced a DisruptHR event, I encourage you to check one out. The global network of events aim to inspire, educate, and empower people in the human capital field. They are fast-paced events, think TEDx but specifically for HR professionals. Each DisruptHR event has a slate of speakers who give 5-minute talks with 20 slides preset at 15-second transitions. I love to talk, but these speeches are the hardest to prepare for. Keeping and maintaining the crowd's attention and delivering a high-value talk in just 5-minutes is very challenging. But I successfully did it based on the positive feedback I received afterward. 🗣️ My talk was about how HR professionals can make their jobs easier by empowering brand ambassadors. This talk was a mini version of the LinkedIn presentations and training I provide to corporations. 💡 As I stated during my talk yesterday, engaged employers are five times less likely to quit. Stay tuned, I will share the video as soon as it is available. (Content posted on July 19, 2024 at 8:39 am CT.) #DisruptHR #DisruptHRTulsa #HR #Speaker #LinkedInExpert

Ok y'all, I don't know about you but I'm tired of most of the HR conferences out in the space right now... They tend to have the same speakers year after year, and their speaker lineup tends to also be as yt as a lily. Where are the HR, Talent, and Culture conferences that are actually thought-provoking and have people talking through REAL stuff that they actually know and do (as practitioners) for 2025? Shoutout to RecFest USA for being one I always will attend, year after year, because they are stellar! And also the meetups Elizabeth (Liz) Gulliver and Josh Horowitz have with Kunik. I have to shout out Evolve at the end of Jan with Anna Morgan (though I may miss this one due to friends in town then). And Call for Culture's that Angela R. Howard is doing for the second time this year! But where are the REAL ones, the ones that you leave with your soul fulfilled and your mind supercharged? The conferences where you don't feel drained and you feel energized? The ones where you know that it was well worth your time and travel? Drop them below. #HRConferences #TalentConferences #ConferenceSeasonIsAllYearNow #2025

What an incredible turnout at yesterday's exclusive Circle In webinar! Our topic, "How to show up at work when there's a lot going on in the world" clearly struck a chord, with hundreds of users joining to gain insights from our amazing panel: 🌟 Gemma Saunders 🌈 GAICD 🌟 Jo Taranto 🌟 Himal Pillay 🌟 Marike Knight My key takeaway? 💡 Start small. Manage your world first (work, family, home) before tackling THE world. Those small steps add up, helping you feel less overwhelmed and more in control. At Circle In, we're passionate about offering these valuable sessions to our customers. We know how time consuming and costly events can be for HR teams, which is why our monthly events and masterclasses are included in your subscription. It's just one more way we're making perfect business sense!

I had an awesome time attending "The Humans Workshop" event hosted by Ethena at the Lattice HQ last week. 🤗 The event speakers Melanie Naranjo, Kelli Dragovich and Chantelle Cappa Egan dove into depths of the HR world with their war stories and experiences. Here are a few learnings that stood out to me the most: 1. A lot of the time HR don't get credit for doing their work, especially when it comes to employee relations and compliance. Founders/executives want to move the business forward, and taking the time to take proper steps on employee concerns does not often bring credit, yet it still has to be done. 2. As an HR leader, you should be playing chess, not checkers. Thinking about your options a few steps ahead is important and can save you from getting into a messy situation. 3. As an HR leader, you need be able to juggle a lot of tasks and yes - ultimately help move the business forward. However, it is important to be able compartmentalize and separate your work from affecting your personal mental health. It's an easy way to get burnt out, and will ultimately prevent you from helping others in the long term. There are tons of other nuggets that were shared in this event, but I'd rather focus on three. The interesting insight for me personally is that the more I learn about HR, the more similarities I see with Product Management and can relate their lessons to my PM/Founder journey. Huge shoutout to the Ethena team for the event. I'm excited to join (and host) a lot more HR events in the Bay Area soon 🥳
