Did you know that nearly one-third of eligible voters have chosen not to participate in recent elections? This statistic highlights the significant number of citizens who either do not vote or whose votes are invalidated, both of which can impact election outcomes. A voter turnout of around 71% is not necessarily "bad," but it is lower than ideal, especially in a country where voting is a crucial democratic right. Various factors, including voter apathy, dissatisfaction with the political process, or logistical barriers, can influence voter turnout. This can be concerning for the health of our democracy. Higher voter turnout typically suggests greater public engagement and legitimacy for the elected government. It's important to research the candidates and, most of all, ensure that you exercise your democratic right by casting your vote to elect a leader who has the best interests of the citizens at heart! #YouthAgainstCorruption #YouthForChange #YouthEngagement #FightCorruption #AntiCorruption #SriLanka

🗳️ Did You Know Runoff Elections Often Have Lower Turnout? 🗳️ Let's change that! Early voting starts June 10th and Election Day is June 18th. Check your voter status and see if you need to vote in the runoff by visiting the Georgia My Voter Page at www.mvp.sos.ga.gov. What is Voter Turnout? Voter turnout refers to the percentage of eligible voters who cast a ballot in an election. High voter turnout is a sign of a healthy democracy, reflecting active citizen participation. Why is Runoff Voter Turnout Low? Runoff elections typically see lower turnout due to voter fatigue and the timing of these elections, often occurring after the excitement of the initial election has subsided. As part of the Georgia Black Expo's commitment to Political and Civic Engagement, we strive to advocate for active participation in the democratic process and empower our community to make their voices heard through voting and civic involvement. Your vote matters! Make a difference and ensure your voice is heard. #RunoffElection #Vote2024 #GBE2024 #PoliticalEngagement #CivicEngagement

A new analysis by #USCPrice's USC Center for Inclusive Democracy and the Elections & Voting Information Center revealed that voters in Georgia, California, and Colorado who used a free vote-by-mail ballot tracking tool during the 2022 midterms had higher confidence in the electoral process than non-users. These voters were also more likely to #vote, thanks to regular vote reminders and notifications. Ballot tracking reduces uncertainty, boosts trust, and ultimately leads to stronger voter turnout. This is really interesting! A huge advance voter turnout that already equates to 10% of the votes from the last election. Clearly this is a polarizing election with decidedly differing party approaches. The question of course is.. who are all these advance voters casting their ballots for!?

#Georgia residents, did you know that recent legislation is making it easier for voters to be removed from voter rolls and limiting your right to vote? *Voter rolls are the lists of actively registered voters who can vote in an upcoming election within a particular jurisdiction* 🗳️ Senate Bill 189 enables challenges to voter eligibility and shortens the time to remove voters from registration lists, raising serious concerns about voter suppression. 🗳️ Other bills like House Bill 974 and House Bill 1207 allow public access to ballots and tighten restrictions on non-citizen involvement in election jobs. These changes could impact how and who gets to vote in upcoming elections. But don't let these bills discourage you—let them fuel your commitment to voting even more. Remember, your vote puts the people in office who make these laws, and staying informed is your first step toward action. Follow us for more updates in our new Policy Pulse series, and visit www.vote411.org to learn more about these laws and additional voter resources for your state! #PolicyPulse #VoterSurpression #Voting2024 #2024Elections #Vote2024
