INNOTRANS: The global rail market is worth approximately €180bn per annum. But surely the only place to see the industry come together in one place is at InnoTrans, the world’s largest transport technology trade fair. And by any measure, InnoTrans is vast. As at the last edition in 2022, organiser Messe Berlin expects the venue to be fully booked by the time the gates open on September 24. That means no less than 200 000 m2 of exhibition area will be available for visitors to explore — not merely the 42 halls, many of which are multi-storey, but also the famed outdoor tracks, where a parade of new rolling stock will be on display. It is ‘a show that always moves with the times’, with this year’s focus being on electrification, digitalisation and sustainability. It is hosting a display dedicated to AI for the first time. No other mobility trade show gathers so many decision-makers, movers and visionaries, where they can exchange ideas, negotiate business and finalise investments.

At Innotrans this year this technology shall count amongst a major find as on NF Railway where already a no of rail tunnels are constructed or being constructed in hostile terrains and many of these were constructed prior to the policy modification to build BLT in longer tunnels after I took over as GM there and emphasised for the same with railway board. But what to do in the tunnels (with ballasted track and water deposit they’re affecting safety) which were already built and already had train operations plus need for other strategic requirement which may need fixture less track structure. And here it was this technology from Edilon)(Sedra a world leader in building ERS/ EBS in such circumstances without the need to block rail traffic for months together. The road to InnoTrans 2024… part 2. Remember, it is a marathon, not a sprint 😉 ⏪ InnoTrans 2014 ⭐ Growing orders. A Desiro City train was on display for the announcement of our Thameslink train order in the UK. At €1.8bn, it was Siemens’ largest ever order in the UK and we would go on to deliver 1,140 rail carriages, which offered 50% more capacity. It included two world-class depots offering long-term service and maintenance with predictive maintenance and digital monitoring. ⏪ InnoTrans 2016 ⭐ Mireo: THE regional and commuter platform! The success of our Desiro led to the development of its little brother the Mireo. We called it ‘Intelligence on Rails’ at the time, and if I could go back, I would add ‘sustainability, and flexibility.’ The modular approach has gone on to be hugely popular and available in various formats and alternative drives to match local needs. 🚄 InnoTrans 2024: Leading trade fair for rail transport unveils major innovations in Berlin 🚏 The international trade fair InnoTrans 2024, which starts in a few hours in Berlin from 24 to 27 September, is once again the focus of attention in the transport industry. With more than 3,000 exhibitors from all over the world, the event has established itself as the most important event for mobility technologies, presenting the latest in rail innovation, sustainability and digitalisation. This year, there are a number of trendsetting developments in the future of transport that stand out: Alstom is one of the protagonists, showcasing an impressive range of solutions to improve sustainability and passenger experience. Among the innovations, Alstom will present the Coradia Max, a high-capacity regional train designed to maximise operational efficiency. In addition, visitors will be able to see the new Berlin tram, the longest in service, and the Traxx Universal multi-system locomotive, created in collaboration with Akiem. However, the biggest attraction will be the immersive presentation of the Avelia Horizon, considered the world's most advanced high-speed train. This year, the show will offer a unique visitor experience with AI Tours, which will showcase the latest applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in transport.
