Did you know that we actively manage the environment outside of our glasshouses at Tangmere to enhance the sites’ biodiversity? 🌱 This includes planting native trees and plant species to encourage wildlife, as well as a number of bird boxes set up around the site to provide nesting opportunities. Our aim is to achieve the right balance through proactive environmental management alongside our production. The level of onsite biodiversity continually increases, and most recently, we are delighted to see our kestrel boxes occupied by chicks! 📸 Thanks to our talented staff Marcin & Rick, for capturing these images. Did you know that the Eastern Plains Landscape (EPL) has over 50 native tree species, serving as vital nectar sources for Mondulkiri wild honey bees? This discovery highlights the region's rich biodiversity and the essential role these trees play in local ecosystems. This is, according to the WWF, to support the hive of wild bees. https://smpl.is/92fwv

It's not just about planting more trees. Increasing biodiversity in a forest requires comprehensive assessment and planned interventions. One of the biggest interventions is encouraging indigenous flora. Different plant species provide varying levels of resources for wildlife. For instance, some provide more nectar, others provide shelter, while more still provide better food sources for certain insects or animals. Promoting this diversity contributes significantly to biodiversity. Read other ways of promoting biodiversity in my blog: https://drp.li/APT7Z

How to protect native pollinator biodiversity? 1. Rating and ranking of the top pollinator magnet plants of the world. 2. Designing the best plant community in your garden or forest, to provide uniform supply of food to the pollinator biodiversity, throughout the year. 3. Designing the best ecosystem diversity in the landscape to maximise habitat diversity. 4. Stop using insecticides in the environment.

Flowering Australian natives are more than just beautiful – they're vital for supporting our local ecosystems. These plants offer key resources for pollinating insects, contributing to a healthy and diverse environment. By including them in our landscapes, we not only enjoy their beauty but also aid in the survival of important pollinator species. It's a simple way to help our native biodiversity flourish. #edinburghparks #nativeplants #australiannatives #hardenbergiaviolacea

🐝 World Bee Day 🐝 In recognition of the crucial role that youth can play in addressing the challenges faced by bees and other pollinators, World Bee Day 2024 centers on the theme "Bee engaged with Youth." This theme underscores the importance of involving young people in beekeeping and pollinator conservation efforts, acknowledging them as the future custodians of our environment. 🌻🐝 This year's theme seeks to raise awareness among youth and other stakeholders about the essential role of bees and other pollinators in agriculture, ecological balance, and biodiversity preservation. 🌿🌸 #WorldFoodForum #WFFNepal #WorldBeeDay

At John O’Conner, we recognise that successful biodiversity projects begin with a clear picture of the current ecosystem. That’s why our consultancy services offer tailored assessments like our Habitat Enhancement Appraisal and Preliminary Ecological Appraisal to catalogue existing species, resource availability, and ecosystem health. From there, we work closely with our contracted customers to define biodiversity goals—whether it’s attracting pollinators, supporting local wildlife, or establishing sustainable habitats. Let’s work together to make intentional changes that benefit biodiversity while supporting your goals. 🌺 🐝 https://lnkd.in/eTpVJvK2 #biodiversty #consultancy #sustainability
