A little over a year ago, I joined a fantastic STUDACT project, venturing beyond my usual research focus (ha-ha). When you conduct great research, you want to share it with other scholars and, hopefully, a broader audience. The 2024 conference season was my first in my new position. We kicked it off in March in Miami at the CIES annual meeting, combined with the STUDACT team meeting (four continents, six countries, countless wonderful people) — the same conference where I had previously presented my research on educational inequality. Now, I'm again studying inequality, though from a different angle. In July, we headed to Greece for the CESE conference. This was my first time attending, and I explored the conference to get a feel for the atmosphere and the themes discussed. I presented our research on migrant youth activism, this time from a European perspective. Once again, I felt connected to my previous work, where the comparative perspective was a lens I used to view the world. The season concluded with the recent ECER in Cyprus, another conference I'm quite familiar with. There, I presented our research on the methodology of comparative research. What could be closer to my heart than methodology and comparative combined? I've always had a keen interest in investigating how we can best study society. My PhD encompassed all three themes: comparative, methodology, and policy to address inequality. Doesn't this mean I'm in the right place? Doing entirely new things, yet with eyes completely accustomed to seeing these things clearly. Miri Yemini, thank you for your trust and for gathering such an incredible team for this project! Martyna E. Vanessa R. Sperduti OCT, PhD Tara Bartlett Carla Inguaggiato, PhD Garth Stahl I know whom to thank for this, even though Katerina isn't on LinkedIn. Check STUDACT website for inspiration: studact.technion.ac.il/ But here's the most surprising fact of this scientific endeavor: All three times, we traveled to places where the weather was hotter than in Israel. This is a truly mind-blowing discovery! For the future, and the hope of peace for all.
