I am deeply grateful to Accenture for the opportunity to engage in today's impactful session, "Amplifying Impact: Advanced Strategies in Influence, during today's The Executive Leadership Council (ELC), "Black Men in Leadership" 2024 conference. It was a day rich with connectedness and mentorship, providing a platform for profound personal and professional growth.
One of the highlights was listening to our South Market Leader, Marty Rodgers, who discussed the pivotal role of leadership in shaping successful outcomes. Marty emphasized, "If we do not step forward to lead, corporate America is essentially harmed!" His words serve as a crucial reminder of the influence and responsibility that come with leadership positions.
As the session concluded, Marty left us with an empowering message for the 100+ attendees: "Keep investing in yourself, keep learning and growing, stretch and challenge yourself – and continue to do what you are doing today."
Reflecting on today's sessions, I encourage us to heed Marty's advice. Let's continue to learn, grow, and share our insights. Lead with authenticity and inspire others with your actions. Our ability to positively impact our communities and workplaces starts with our commitment to genuine, influential leadership.

While some organizations are still considering replacements for UAP, ILM, or IAG, most are choosing comprehensive IGA solutions to address risks stemming from inefficient access governance.
This week I had the opportunity to share the stage with Shasi P. and fahmi khalid at the launch of Axiata Digital Leaders Programme - with close to 100 young and bright talents. While we equip them in Digital Skills - my bigger aim of the programme is the mindset, leadership skills and relationships that will play a bigger role in whether one is a successful digital leader or not.
Thought to share, the 3 ‘one word’ takeaways from each of panellist:
1. Agile (Fahmi) - The pace of change, of learning/unlearning has accelerated. Embracing the need to be Agile is key.
I like to think of Agility as the ability to use your existing skills and learning mindset and apply it to a new area in which you might be a complete beginner. Being able to understand the cycle of learning is key for this : Experience, reflection, conceptualise your approach, try again and the cycle continues.
2. Value (yours truly) - Find ways to add value early in your career. If you map out your day to day work activities and ask yourself - how could I add value in each step?
Example:
In a meeting - are you the participant, waiting for things to happen or are you offering to take minutes, are you sending some thoughts to your manager before the meeting, are you checking on what other support is needed?
In a programme like ADLP - are you waiting for others to ask the question, are you coordinating your groups or waiting for others to do so?
3. Curiosity (Shasi) - The mindset required to navigate changes, tackle the toughest problems , learn/unlearn/relearn require this. Being curious greatly accelerates both the ability to be ‘agile’ and also add ‘value’.
From a very practical perspective, working with people who are curious also makes things interesting, enables new possibilities. One practical way to do this is to ask more questions, and if you struggle with that, spend 5 minutes planning some questions (rather than expecting it to come naturally - this is a muscle that can be built!).
Kudos Axiata Foundation Kamal Nawawi Sharaf Guna for the wonderful launch - and looking forward to the next few months of the programme.

It was a pleasure to speak to young future leaders at the “Leadership in the Digital Era” Forum hosted yesterday by Axiata Foundation and PWC Academy. Learning from Fahmi and Hsern-Wei Ling as they shared their journeys and views was a great way to start the day. A shout out to LaySee Wee, CPTD for facilitating the session.
