My Did you know the HCPC have updated our professional standards of conduct, performance and wthics this week? What does that mean for practice education? Actually it effects us quite a lot! First of all the HCPC have outlined appropriate boundaries and the potential impact of power in individuals in a social or professional setting. We must ensure we respect the boundaries with our service users, carers and colleagues. From a practice education point of view that means we must maintain our professional integrity and fair to all when training and assessing both students and staff. We must not let interpersonal relationships impact our decision making. We must remain polite, considerate and professional when working with colleagues. We are required to work in partnership with colleagues to share our skills, knowledge and experience. This applies to all trainees. This could be visitors, students , or colleagues. For most of us this should not impact us. All grades must sharing and support one another. Participate in self reflection if you do not actively participate in training. Your practice education team can assist if you require additional training or support. Collaborating effectively together creates an amazing team and which we all can achieve.
