New case study: Innovative Solutions in Action! ☑️ We're excited to showcase our partner Graniten, who has been delivering turn-key solutions since 1992. Graniten supports global pharmaceutical companies with advanced production equipment, enhancing patient care and operational efficiency. The Challenge 🔧: Developing a system to feed medical bottle caps of various shapes and sizes, without format parts, and ensure quick changeover between batches. The Solution 💡: Graniten integrated ABB industrial robots with a FlexiBowl® 500 to separate and re-orients cap for accurate identification by a vision system. FlexiBowl®, the only parts feeding system recommended in the ABB Robotics Ecosystem, allows precise cap handling regardless of orientation. We all know pharmaceutical distribution has many challenges: the critical need for speed and accuracy, a tight labor market and the ever-present regulatory requirements. What is not unique to the pharmaceutical industry is the expensive and dangerous task of loading and unloading shipping containers. In fact, it is the riskiest task an employee can perform in a DC. Some recent stats show: - 6,600 employees missed work due to an injury sustained at the loading dock in 2018 - 36% of all missed days by warehouse workers are due to back and shoulder injuries - 25% of all warehouse injuries occur at the loading dock - Turnover rates for loading dock workers often exceed 100% Automating the loading and unloading shipping container activities can improve many of the areas of concern listed above. 🤖Robotics Wednesday🤖 ❗Tube Filling with UR3 collaborative robots❗ A dedicated machine for filling a range of tubes with pharmaceutical liquids. Tubes are supplied in both capped and uncapped form. Descramblers present the tube or cap to a position where a Universal Robots UR3 picks up the tube, and dependant on whether it is already capped will either pick up a cap or remove the cap from the tube. The UR3 places the tube under a filling head where another UR3 robot takes hold of the tube while the first UR3 releases it and then gets another tube. Once the tube is filled the cap is screwed back on and the finished tube placed in an outfeed conveyor. Great robot collaboration! What's your thoughts?
