SubSummit just hits different than other conferences. Who else feels this way? I don't know what it is, but it just feels like a bunch of friends getting together to help each other out, share ideas, and grow together. It's VERY different than any other conference I go to. With most conferences, you have no idea who runs it, or have no connection to them. With SubSummit that's totally different. It's the people like Paul Chambers, Christopher George, John Haji, Lauren Pienta, Elizabeth Oden, Louis Ricard, Chris Chambers and so many others that truly make it special! If you're not already going to SubSummit and you're in the subscriptions space, you REALLY should consider it. "Give away free tickets, it's good strategy to promote your conference, y'know..." I still remember getting advised about charging tickets for Underdog Con. "Hey, most conferences give away free tickets y'kno..." The world wants you to be vanilla. Don't. Insist on being you. We don't give away free tickets, not because we're greedy capitalists. But because it filters the do-ers from the sea of wantrepreneurs. Also... charging money (sales) is what keeps companies alive. You can play systems, make pretty namecards, talk about well-being, work on new tech features. End of the day, sales and revenue are what's going to keep your company alive. Guess what happened to events that gave away free tickets or charged too little? That's right – they ran out of steam.

Had a blast at our third Founders Forum yesterday, and what really clicked with the group was all about planning for Q4. With leaders from AdTech, PropTech, Healthcare, Biotech, and EdTech in the mix, I kept it high level, but the strategies that resonated most were all about architecting urgency—a must if you’re aiming to close out the year with exponential growth. If you want to finish strong, you’ve got to build urgency for your audience and prospects. Here are a few ways I’ve successfully done this: 🎾 Virtual events and workshops: Setting a specific date and time with a compelling agenda and networking opportunities can create centralized, meaningful interactions with you prospect that drive action (and sales!). 🎾 Legislation changes: In regulated industries like healthcare and finance, a new law can change the game overnight. Remember when the pandemic made virtual care a necessity? Platforms that had been waiting for their moment suddenly saw record-breaking sales. 🎾 Market shifts beyond your control: Global, local, or social events can change the narrative for your audience and spark new opportunities. 🎾 In-person meetings/dinners: "Hey John, I’ll be in Boston next month. Free for lunch?" Never underestimate how a hot restaurant and a casual conversation can lead to a meaningful business relationship. 🎾 Working backwards from a deadline: That enterprise client who says they want to work with you in 2025? By mapping out the onboarding, testing, and launch timelines, you can show them they actually need to sign *next month* to hit their own goals.
