**Vince Carter’s Dunk of Death: The Human Highlight Reel** **Sydney, Australia (2000)** Yo, gather 'round for a tale that’ll make your jaw drop and your eyes pop! Let’s rewind to the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, where Vince Carter, aka “Half-Man, Half-Amazing,” delivered what might be the dunk of the century—and possibly the millennium. Picture this: It’s the Olympic basketball semifinals, and Vince Carter’s got a one-on-one with French giant, Frederic Weis, who stands an intimidating 7'2". Now, most guys would think twice about trying to dunk on a dude that tall. But Carter? Nah, he was like, “Hold my Gatorade.” As Vince launched himself into the air, it was like watching a human rocket in slow motion. He soared over Weis, clearing him with the kind of grace that should be illegal. Carter’s dunk wasn’t just a slam—it was a high-altitude exhibition of “Oh, did you see that?!” Imagine if you will: Vince Carter dunking *over* a dude, who’s basically a walking skyscraper. It was like watching someone leap over a bus while doing the moonwalk. The French crowd was left gasping, while the American fans were straight-up losing their minds. The dunk didn’t just win the game; it won the "Holy S**t, Did That Just Happen?" award of the year. So, next time you’re feeling low, just remember Vince Carter and that gravity-defying masterpiece. It’s proof that sometimes, the only thing holding you back is your own imagination. Unless, of course, you’re trying to jump over a 7'2" Frenchman, in which case, you might need some extra hops and a lot of guts. #DunkOfDeath #VinceCarter #BasketballLegends #OlympicDrama #SlamDunk #HighFlying #AirCarter #SportsHistory #DunkLikeVince And here’s the video of that dunk:

This will come as a surprise to many of you: One of my more unspoken passions continues to be #boxing. Still! Even after soon 20 years of not stepping into that ring anymore myself. "Why on earth would a #mediator celebrate such a violent sport?", you may ask. Because of the mental and emotional toughness it requires. because it takes a warrior to step in there in a positive way - a warrior of #heart and mind. Just as it takes a warrior of heart and mind to step in a positive way between those who fight. Nobody finds better words for this than the great Teddy Atlas. if you find time, listen to his take on last weekends' mega fight of "King" Ryan against "The dream" Devin Hainey. https://lnkd.in/eQ2DewUw The entire world thought Garcia had gone coockoo in the lead up, displaying rather untypical behavior for a fighter, and wrote him off. When he pulled off the upset and beat Haney, everyone now thought he had fooled the world. Not Atlas though. He knew what he had seen. And he understood from 50 years of experience in accompanying boxers on that walk that sometimes people have to go to very strange places to find a way of making that incredibly difficult walk into their boxing ring. Often much more difficult than the fight itself. That for some, the only way to do this may at times be to hide in thick fog where one's own demons become invisible too. In fact, most of us know the agonizing moments of preparing for those fights, struggles or tests in life that hold what we desire most - and that which we fear most. When we watch these warriors, it is an opportunity and an invitation to reflect on our own choice of how we make the walk towards our very own little boxing ring. And to choose whether we hide in the fog or face the #demons.

My Islanders stave off elimination. The Rangers move on. Knicks are on the verge. Clippers/Mavs did not disappoint yesterday. Yankees exploded in Brew Town. To quote Larry David, this weekend in sports was pretty, pretty, pretty good. We had no nominations last week for the Nice Guy/Gal Awards. Hopefully, that was an aberration. If you have someone you'd like to recognize, please do so! I hope to hear from you at some point this week. Every Friday, I’ll share nominations for people who have been identified as nice guys (and gals). If you want to nominate someone, just shoot me a private message by 5:00 EST Thursday. There are only 3 requirements: 1) you have to be connected to the person you nominate 2) you can only nominate one person per week 3) you can’t nominate yourself 😀 If you want to provide a brief reason for your selection, that’s great, but it’s not a requirement. Let’s recognize people who make a difference simply by being nice. Have a great day, everyone. https://lnkd.in/eXUA7tq4 #network #sportsbiz #people #niceguy #networking #sportsmarketing

Rodri's goal against Georgia demonstrates the importance of passing decision-making while facing a low block. His ability to understand the flow and situations made this goal - playing against the flow is a key attribute - knowing how you can disguise yourself using your body orientation & language and how to use the opponnet flow: 1) Scanning the box before receiving it from Cucurella 2) Playing the opposite side to create better conditions on the overloaded side 3) Supporting the wings 4) Using the space that cucurella and morata created 5) First touch against the flow and execute a shot in a minimum time

Goal scorers understand the art of catch & release. If shooters take even one stickhandle (aka “dusting off the puck”), their shots may be blocked or saved. Use this drill to emphasis quick shots.

MLB needs better Umpires. NBA needs better Refs! And they both need more of them? NFL needs help too. Ever wonder why we hear NOTHING about how you become a Ref or Umpire in the Pros? It's a business and it's a "Good ol Boys" mentality where they protect one another and clear you out of the way if you break ranks! I had a buddy who made it to the NBA Ref level. Supposedly, the best of the best, right?! He lasted a few years. It's political as hell! His skills were important. But his loyalty kept him his job. They see and they know their mistakes! Why don't we FANS know the following: What's their experience? Where'd they get that experience? Who are they? How are they measured skill-set wise? How many errors do THEY make? Fans pay their salary ultimately! Fans deserve the best but seldom get it! How many times do you watch a game and yell, "GOOD CALL!?" Yeah, right...not many. Some, but few, are Great. Who is the Mendy Rudolph of the NBA today? Who is the Jim Joyce of Baseball today? Not even a part of people's conversations! But it sure as hell used to be!!
Skenes with a hold and a quick load & go, Grandal with a great throw right on the mark, and Cruz following the ball, staying down, and holding the tag. A lot to like in this sequence of events…
