What does Ofgem's TCR really mean for consumers? 🤔 The Targeted Charging Review (TCR) is a program initiated by Ofgem, the energy regulator in the UK, aimed at reorganising how network fees are distributed and imposed on electricity transmission and distribution network users. ⚡️ One of the main alterations introduced by the TCR pertains to the restructuring of residual charges. Residual charges represent the fees imposed on consumers to cover the overall expenses associated with maintaining the electricity networks, ensuring system reliability and stability. Continue reading to explore the TCR in more details, its implications, and how it will affect energy consumers nationwide 👉🏼 https://lnkd.in/ehUWyspR #TCR #TargetedChargingReview #Ofgem

There are two sunsets in this photo: the actual sun and this Rooftop Unit! The unit has been well maintained and in operation for the last 22 years, but the cost-benefit of replacing it may already be well worth a new upgrade. Additional investigations, such as a retro-commissioning of the system, would help determine whether replacing this unit is necessary or if it can continue operating efficiently for a few more years. #commissioning #buildingcommissioning #existingbuildingcommissioning #ebcx #retrocommissioning #rcx

Back in March 2023, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Commissioner Mark Christie commented that “Capacity Markets are characterized by such hopeless complexity and impenetrable opacity that they represent the example of a game that only insiders can play and win.” Seeing the results posted last night, there appear to be a number of winners. With yet another auction scheduled for December, we expect to be very busy over the next several months. #CapacityMarkets #Energy #FERC #PJM
PJM Interconnection posted the BRA results late yesterday afternoon. The RTO clearing price was $262.92, compared to $28.92 in the last auction. MAAC and EMAAC also cleared at this level. Consistent with our forecast, BGE cleared at the cap of $466.35. Dominion cleared at $444.26. We look forward to working with clients to update you on our latest thoughts in our post-auction update as part of our Capacity Watch service. https://buff.ly/3QMOIOu #powermarkets #projectfinance

Incredibly disappointing news for those of us who want to see innovation in the retail space happen faster. At DESNZ's recent retail innovation workshop the half-hourly settlement programme was amongst the key asks of all attendees. But more than this, this is an indication of a structural weakness in the way in which Ofgem regulates not-for-profit entities in the energy space. In reality Ofgem has very little recourse for failure to deliver. In the event that NESO is unable to deliver its components of CP2030 at pace, what will Ofgem do? Give it a bad ranking on its public evaluation score? Executives will be quaking in their boots! We've already seen that Ofgem fails to act on matters like battery skips without external pressure. Ofgem should consider setting out thresholds for performance beyond which it will consider removing entire management teams to better reflect the disciplines of the market. https://lnkd.in/eUUXR6z2

Armed with real-time, granular data from the Utopi Platform, one PBSA client was able to identify a resident using an external heater in a TRV controlled space, and after engagement, saw a drop in temperature of 14°C. 🌡️ The space was going up to highs of 39°C despite the site having TRV energy control measures set to a maximum of 27°C… after engagement with the resident, the space temperature decreased from 39°C to 25°C within 24 hours. Over a 200 day heating season, that would equate to: 📈 Total savings of £420 🔋 Energy reduction of 4,200kWh ♻️ Carbon reduction of 756kg Read the full story here: https://buff.ly/4cLATKW #realestate #esg #esgdata #proptech #PBSA #residentengagement

https://lnkd.in/dgtwjYhd *“However, once the private power market regime is established, the said 17 IPPs would be allowed to sell electricity under CTBCM (Competitive Trading Bilateral Contract Market) regime”, he said.* *“We are on our toes to establish CTBCM within one-and-a half to two years’ time so that IPPs could sell electricity to their clients by using the wheeling charges”, he added.* What PTI failed to/neglected to implement, will be done now. 💡 Navigating the Texas energy market requires expertise and insight, much like sailors navigating the vast ocean. ⚓ Leading up to the Texas City Manager Association (TCMA) conference on June 20th, we'll be sharing tips to help you expertly traverse the intricate currents of the Texas electricity market. We'll see you there! ⚡Tip of the Day: Differentiate between aggregators and purchasing co-ops. Many purchasing co-ops claim to be aggregators, but they may not actually combine your load with others. Be cautious of middlemen who negotiate contracts with minimal discounts. Consider alternatives like TCAP, which buys directly in the wholesale market without middlemen. #TexasEnergy #TCMA2024 #tcaptx
