How creative writing can help the healing process of mental health : Creative expression in any form is therapeutic - be it music, dance, art, writing. Of these, the quickest, quietest and simplest way is writing. Here are some writing techniques that can help in reducing stress and anxiety: a) Journaling e.g. bullet Journaling or gratitude Journaling b) Freewriting: Continuously writing your thoughts for a set duration without any grammatical considerations c) Poetry : Rhyming your thoughts away d) Fiction writing / storytelling : Short stories / imaginary writing e) Letter writing: Writing a letter to a close one or your child 15 minutes a day of any of these exercises can be seriously cathartic for your health. Try it. #powerofwriting #mentalhealth

Racism, misogyny, bullying, childhood abuse, narcissistic abuse, illness and violence (of many types) are among the life experiences that can cause trauma. For many of us, once we have confronted the root of our trauma(s), we wish to externalise it in a way that can be useful for others. These six workshops will help you to explore different ways of writing about what you have been through, to make your message accessible to different audiences. We will look at (and practice) various types of poetry; fiction (novel, short story, flash); memoir (long, and short form); and scripting (for stage and screen). At the end of the course, you will have experimented with various ways to transmute your traumatic experiences to text, and - perhaps - found a favourite! #Trauma #Writing https://bit.ly/3V5KZ2h

Poetry?! Have you ever felt like people notice what you do but not who you are? I wrote this poem with AI, to reflect a moment of reflection. I hope it resonates with some and encourages you to explore how you see yourself, and connect with others. < Unseen in plain sight > Am I just noise? A fleeting echo in the chaos, Or something the world would feel, A gap it couldn’t instantly fill, or ever at all? Am I invisible? Like a trusted, worn pair of slippers, Loved only in their absence, Not their presence. Am I adding value? Or merely clutching at the coattails of others, Witness to their impact, But never the one who’s truly seen? Am I still a child? A dreamer who never quite grew up, Stubborn in my own way, Yet yearning, aching - for acknowledgment and belonging. Perhaps the answer lies Not in being seen, but in being true. In carving a path that feels right, Even if no one applauds. Or perhaps the void I seek to fill Is my own, And the world waits patiently For me to see myself. As you read this, what came to mind? Are there people in your life who may feel unseen? Or perhaps you’ve felt this way yourself? Let’s really see ourselves, and each other, not just for what we do, but for who we are, and unique impact we offer our world. I can help with part of this and would be happy to explain how, if you'd like to have a conversation. #Authentic #PersonalDevelopment #Connection #Valued #Writing #Poetry

💙 When we lose loved ones, writing can be a powerful tool for helping us remember them, helping us re-encounter the world without them, and helping us re-know ourselves as the loss transforms us. ✒️ In this two-hour online program, Evermore Poet Laureate Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer will offer a few suggestions for writing. Together, we will read poems about grief and discuss them. We will have chances to do our own writing, there will be optional time for sharing what we wrote, and we will have time to reflect on the effect writing has on us. The poems we read and write won't be able to hold all the feelings, but they will offer us a way to touch our grief, to connect with the lives and deaths of our loved ones, to give voice to our anguish, to find compassion for each other, to fall in love with the world that is left, to express our heartache, and to explore the landscape of our hearts. ⏰ GET YOUR TICKETS NOW! ⏰ Register for the workshop on June 5, 2024 here: https://loom.ly/UzgueQY 7-9pm ET, 6-8pm CT, 5-7pm MT and 4-6pm PT If you are interested in a different date, we are holding workshops on the following dates: September 4, 2024 December 4, 2024 All workshops will be held on Zoom.
