Happy Friday! This week's mental health tip is to create an affirmation. "I am _____." Fill in the blank for your personal affirmation to help carry you through the day 💙 Repeating affirmations like this can help calm your mind, build self-confidence, and reduce stress. The Texas Mental Health Creative Arts contest is open for submissions until March 1st! We invite you to reflect on the theme "What Does Mental Health and Well-Being Mean to You? Hurt. Healing. Hope." and enter the contest. Digital Artwork is a new category in the Texas Arts Contest this year! 🎨 In previous years, digital and traditional art fell under one category called original artwork. While they're both visual art, they deserved to be split into two categories! In 2019, Anjola Coker submitted a digital art piece called AfroTrois, which earned an Honorable Mention! We're so excited to see your creativity as you reflect on the theme "What Does Mental Health and Well-being Mean to You?" Happy Friday! We often talk about the importance of self-care, but what does self-care mean? Self-care is the ongoing practice of taking care of one's physical, emotional, and mental well-being by engaging in activities and behaviors that promote self-nurturance, self-compassion, and self-love. Some examples of self-care are writing, sipping hot chocolate, painting a self-portrait, or taking a walk. Creating art is a great way to practice self-care! We invite you to create something and enter the Texas Mental Health Creative Arts Contest. The theme is "What Does Mental Health and Well-Being Mean to You? Hurt. Healing. Hope."
