The #Altnet industry is at crossroads when it comes to… crossing roads During the 'Infrastructure Sharing Roundtable' at the #INCASummit2024, AssetHUB CEO Rob Leenderts highlighted the potential of using existing infrastructure to overcome obstructions such as roads, rivers and railways and avoid disruption when deploying new fibre. The roundtable, chaired by Guy Miller at MS3 Networks Limited and joined by Shaun Fensom at Cooperative Network Infrastructure and Domhnall Dods at CityFibre explored how sharing assets – such as public or private duct and utility infrastructure - can make connectivity infrastructure more widely available for Altnets and also help them navigate time consuming obstacles. Find out how you can access thousands of assets that can be repurposed to deploy broadband across obstacles on AssetHUB’s marketplace for buying and selling infrastructure here: https://lnkd.in/g7s6KmUM

Investors who, prior to COVID, had middling interest in digital infrastructure, came away post-COVID with a deep appreciation for how uncorrelated digital hard assets are to the economy, compared to general infrastructure assets, according to Omar Jaffrey, founder of digital infrastructure private capital firm Palistar Capital. Jaffrey notes that during COVID, many forms of general infrastructure, such as ports, roads and airports, saw sharp drops in usage, tying their financial performance to the broader economy. Digital infrastructure, by contrast, performed steadily throughout the pandemic. The downturn has created a permanent, "fundamental shift" in how investors view digital infrastructure, and a big uptick in demand for these assets. New on Cool Vector: Demand for data consumption is so great that it is outstripping the ability of corporations to fund necessary infrastructure development, creating a huge opportunity for providers of capital like Palistar Capital, says the firm's founder, Omar Jaffrey. Jaffrey says his firm is finding many opportunities to partner with other participants in the telecommunications market, in which Palistar becomes the owner of the hard assets necessary to provide the many digital services consumed in greater and greater volume. The need for capital in the three core areas of wireless, broadband and data centers is in the hundreds of billions of dollars, Jaffrey says. Palistar is currently investing from a $1.9 billion digital infrastructure private capital fund. Cool Vector video-podcast website: https://lnkd.in/dnBgwHXc

I am thrilled to share that Pivotel Group, in collaboration with the Connectivity Innovation Network and Roobuck has been awarded a $1.5 million grant under the Telecommunications Disaster Resilience Innovation (TDRI) program. This funding will support the next phase of our rapidly deployable Large Area #WiFi solution, a project designed to connect operational sites or entire communities when unforeseen events render traditional communication services unavailable. By delivering coverage to an area of up to two square kilometers and catering for up to 100 simultaneous users at speeds of up to 10Mbps per user, this technology holds immense potential for transforming public safety and emergency services across Australia and New Zealand. In the face of natural disasters, efficient communication can be the difference between life and death. This innovation will empower emergency responders, providing them with reliable connectivity to coordinate rescue operations, manage resources, and ensure the safety of affected communities. It will also enable residents in disaster-hit areas to stay connected with loved ones and access critical information. As we continue to develop and deploy this solution, I am excited about the positive impact it will have on our capacity to respond to emergencies. By enhancing our communication infrastructure, we are not only building resilience but also fostering a safer and more connected future for all. #Innovation #PublicSafety #EmergencyServices #Telecommunications #DisasterResilience #Australia #NewZealand #Connectivity

Thank you to Masha Abarinova at Fierce Network for interviewing our COO, Jose Valdez, for this report, which highlights how the city's dense tree canopy is not stopping the deployment of a citywide hybrid network. 🍃 We are not just building a network; we are creating a community-based movement with next-generation fixed wireless access (ngFWA) technology. As a business-savvy nonprofit, DigitalC is providing high-quality connectivity with symmetrical 100 Mbps for just $18/month, all while planning for growth. 🚀 A “critical challenge” was designing a radio frequency (RF) layout of vertical assets that “offered citywide coverage while maintaining cost-efficiency for both initial deployment and future growth,” Valdez noted. With the support of infrastructure partners like Tarana Wireless, Inc. and BlueBridge Networks, we are ensuring our network is not only resilient but also focused on reaching every resident. Exciting Developments in the UK Broadband Market Following ConnectedNorth! Openreach is accelerating its fibre build, targeting one million premises passed per quarter and setting an ambitious goal of reaching 30 million premises by 2030. At the recent Connected North event in Manchester, Georgia Grimes, Director of Fibre Build at Openreach, highlighted the operator's progress. With nearly 14 million premises already connected, including four million in the north, Openreach's £15 billion build program is on track to pass 25 million homes by 2026. Grimes emphasized that the UK fibre market is thriving, attributing its success to government policy decisions and a robust regulatory framework. Interestingly Altnets shared a different perspective; represented by Rajiv Datta, Chief Executive of nexfibre and Conal Henry, Founder and Chair of Fibrus, emphasised the massive build job still ahead. Both Fibreus and Nexfibre have a strong focus on excellent customer service. While the market faces complexities and challenges, the commitment to building competitive broadband networks remains strong. As the industry navigates these challenges, collaboration and innovation will be key to delivering reliable, high-speed connectivity to all corners of the UK. #Openreach #nexfibre #fibreus #UKBroadband #FibreOpticNetworks #Infrastructure #Connectivity #DigitalTransformation https://lnkd.in/egK8dfFv
