At Aurum, our mission is clear: we strive to generate evidence for policy and translate policy into practice to positively impact the health of communities globally. Our dedication is evident in projects like DRTB-HDT and IMPAACT4TB. DRTB-HDT focuses on improving treatment outcomes for cases of RIF-R TB with innovative therapies, while IMPAACT4TB targets vulnerable groups in high-burden countries with short-course preventive therapy. But our work doesn't stop there. Projects like OPT4TPT, ASCENT, and CUT-TB are all geared towards enhancing treatment outcomes, utilising digital technologies to support patients, and revolutionising TB contact tracing in different regions. ASCENT specifically aids TB patients in South Africa, while CUT-TB assesses new TB tracing models. Additionally, through the TB Think Tank, where TB experts advise the National Department of Health on evidence-based policies and programs, we play a pivotal role as the Secretariat. 9moFrom my clinical practice experience, unfortunately TB patients are still shopping around in different clinics and hospitals for better care. This is mainly due to poor attitude of service providers, overcrowded facilities and below bar patient counselling and education. Provion of patient-centred care, streamling consultation processes and a district or regional electronic TB patient records could help in improving the current situation.
