For those who have been critical of privileged representatives supportive of Shorten and the bill: You have done nothing wrong. Please ignore the 'joint statement' from our DPROs. It misunderstands the nature of lateral violence. Lateral violence is sideways. Our criticism, and the criticism of others, was anything but, and it was not violence. Remember, always punch up. Punch up to those wealthier: never those poorer. Punch up to those more secure: never those less. Punch up to those more established, those who are white and not brown, those who are men and not women; punch up to the non-parents who have no idea what the daily struggle of being a disabled parent to a disabled child with no money, support or visibility is like. These DPROs just ganged up and punched down because a number of disabled people held those with power and privilege accountable for their public words and actions - and packaged it as "lateral violence". It isn't. Always examine who has more power in any given situation to understand who the real bullies are. <3
