It's Friday and we're sharing another example of Social Media Censorship 💻 Here are two Instagram ads by health companies: one accepted vs one rejected. The first is by Hims promoting their Erectile Dysfunction treatment. It uses words like "hard" and the imagery of a hand holding a pill. This ad was 𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗘𝗣𝗧𝗘𝗗. ✅ The other is by Oh Nut /The Pelvic People highlighting the real impact caused by the gap in women's health, leading to extended delays in the diagnosis of endometriosis. No imagery is shown. This ad was 𝗥𝗘𝗝𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗘𝗗. ❌ Access to health information is a human right. Big tech platforms systematically remove critical health content that can improve people’s wellbeing. And while we're thankful to see progress here in Europe through advancements like the European Commission's Digital Services Act, we as people need to participate and hold big tech platforms accountable and ensure they institute fair advertising practices.🙌 Are you working at a European health company that has experienced social media censorship while promoting your product/service? Please complete this survey in partnership with CensHERship: https://lnkd.in/dde98aRQ Your experience can help change the social media landscape for the better🙏 And until it gets better, join us on Fridays for an example of censorship. 📢 #SocialMediaMarketing #Investing #Censorship

Should we have predicted this?! Team censHERship attempted to set up an instagram account to collect more experiences of the censorship of women’s health content online and to share updates about our campaign… And you guessed it - our account was deleted. ✅ all we did was create the handle censhership.campaign - which was accepted by instagram ❌then when we tried to log in to add our bio and content we got the message below What did we do wrong? Is someone, somewhere watching us?! Any suggestions for what to do next? We’ll try again with a different handle but all suggestions welcome!

The Goal of Holistic Health Practitioners in Social Media For holistic health practitioners, the goal of social media presence is to connect, educate, and inspire a community towards better health and wellness. While Instagram's algorithm will continue to evolve, your content's core value should remain steadfast. Emphasizing evergreen content, optimized with thoughtful keyword research, ensures that your message endures through the ebbs and flows of social media trends. And for those moments when the digital world seems too cumbersome to navigate alone, partnering with a social media specialist can bridge the gap, allowing you to concentrate on your practice while your digital presence flourishes. In the landscape of holistic health marketing, resilience lies in adaptability and authenticity. By adopting a strategic approach to your social media presence, you can ensure that your holistic health practice not only survives but thrives in the ever-changing digital arena. I love using social media to spread health knowledge. It's amazing to connect with patients and empower them with information. But we´ve seen too often, a lot of...well, let's say questionable medical advice floating around online, especially from some "doctor influencers." We've all seen it, right? People ditching their treatment plans or self-prescribing medication based on a viral video. It's frustrating because medicine is personal – there's no one-size-fits-all solution! How can we, as healthcare professionals, use social media responsibly and effectively? Here's what's buzzing in my brain: 1. What do you usually do when you see misleading medical content online? 2. What are some ways we can leverage social media to build trust with our audience and emphasize the importance of individualized treatment plans? 3. Share your best tips for verifying information before hitting post! From my end, this is what I usually do: • When I see clear violations, I report the content to the platform. • Challenge with Credibility. Polite comments with links to trusted sources can spark discussions and help others avoid the misinformation. • Focus on creating engaging content with clear, evidence-based health tips. • Empower Critical Thinking: Remind followers to be critical consumers of online health information, encouraging them to research and consult with qualified professionals. #MedicalFacts #Factcheck #Sciencebased

The article from Healthline delves into the increasing reliance of Generation Z on TikTok for health information. This trend emerges from widespread dissatisfaction with traditional healthcare providers, as many young individuals feel dismissed or unheard during medical consultations. TikTok influencers provide a more accessible and engaging form of health advice, but this shift also brings significant concerns about misinformation. A substantial portion of health-related content on TikTok can be misleading, posing risks to those who rely on it without professional verification. Efforts to address this issue include the involvement of healthcare professionals on social media platforms to offer credible information and counteract false claims. The article highlights a study revealing that nearly one-third of Gen Z turns to social media for health guidance, with a notable percentage seeking information on managing chronic conditions. This reliance is particularly pronounced among those who feel underserved by traditional medical systems. The article underscores the need for a balanced approach, combining the reach and engagement of social media with the expertise and reliability of healthcare professionals. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, integrating accurate health information into these platforms becomes crucial to ensure that young people make informed decisions about their health. Misinformation can spread like wildfire - especially on social media. This is a big concern for the health industry, and it's even more alarming when you realise that a third of Gen Z is turning to TikTok as their main source for health information. Loved hearing from Jay Topham at Unfound Studio for the Simedics (The Journal of mHealth) as he shared some eye-opening insights for brands in the sector. He discussed what health brands and certified professionals can do on social platforms to help steer young people away from misinformation and guide them toward accurate, reliable advice.
