🚨 Big News: The Get Britain Working White Paper Has Arrived! 🚨 Today marks a pivotal moment in our journey towards revitalising employment support in the UK, with the launch of the Get Britain Working White Paper, backed by a substantial £240 million investment. This initiative promises to usher in the most transformative reforms to our employment landscape in a generation. The government's ambitious plans include: ✔️ A comprehensive overhaul of jobcentres across Great Britain to better serve our communities. ✔️ Enhanced access to apprenticeships, quality training, and educational opportunities for every young person, ensuring they are equipped for the jobs of tomorrow. ✔️ A significant boost to mental health support, aimed at reducing waiting lists in regions facing high levels of inactivity. These measures are designed to ignite economic growth and set the stage for a decade of national renewal. However, we must confront a pressing challenge. Over the past three years, we have witnessed a concerning decline in job vacancies and over past ten years seen a drop in skills development with employer’s driven by rising business costs and economic pressures that have made hiring decisions increasingly cautious. While the Get Britain Working initiative is undoubtedly a step in the right direction, its success hinges on a united effort among government, employers, and employment partners to create meaningful, sustainable opportunities for job seekers. Let us collectively ensure that this ambitious plan yields real, measurable results, even in the face of economic headwinds. What role can each of us play in this endeavour? How can we collaborate to turn this vision into reality? Your thoughts and insights are invaluable as we embark on this critical mission together. Let’s drive change and empower our communities to thrive! 💪 #GetBritainWorking #EmploymentSupport #CollaborativeEffort #EconomicGrowth

Young Londoners are ambitious, capable, and talented. But many can never see or access opportunities – and the city’s employers are missing out. That’s why we meet young people facing barriers where they feel comfortable and safe to nurture their development through positive role models, workshops, and industry insights. These opportunities build the skills and networks that springboard our young Londoners to explore careers they thought were unattainable. In 2023, our Employability and Skills programmes supported 14,939 children and young people. Over 3,000 of those young people joined our employability programme, Access Aspiration, and accessed opportunities they might never see otherwise. Take Queren, for example, who shares her story on page nine about how we helped her change from thinking she couldn’t do certain jobs “to wanting so much more…and achieving it.” But we know there is still so much more to do. Only 17% of professional jobs in London are taken by working class people.* Our pan-London reach and expertise enables us to work directly with employers who want a more inclusive workplace where all talented people can succeed. We provide the pipeline that enables this and ensures London grows more prosperous and inclusive for all.
