Giving in the USA has been a focal point in early December for many years now. It’s such a great opportunity to take the gratitude we just celebrated during Thanksgiving and turn it into action—through charitable giving and acts of kindness. While inspired by the same spirit, Colorado Gives Day actually predates the National Day of Giving. It’s a special opportunity to focus our generosity on organizations that serve Colorado communities. The post I’m sharing below is from Thrive - Transformation at Work, an organization I’ve been involved with for years. Instead of summarizing our mission here, I encourage you to explore the Thrive website and discover the incredible work we do. What I can confidently share is why I’ve chosen to devote so much of my life to Thrive. Thrive helps people in difficult, messy life situations regain dignity and hope. Through meaningful employment and career development, we empower individuals to rebuild their lives. Thrive stands out because of our incredibly committed volunteer coaches. They walk alongside members, not just helping them find jobs but guiding them toward meaningful career paths. The relationships forged during these shared experiences often last well beyond the first job offer. I began my journey with Thrive as a volunteer coach. I soon became involved in the Intentional Employer Network, a group that connects business leaders with a heart for providing opportunities to overlooked and marginalized individuals. Today, I’m honored to serve on the Board of Directors. As Colorado Gives Day approaches, I have two asks: 1) Give generously to an organization that resonates with you. In a world filled with constant challenges, acts of mercy and kindness remind us that light always overcomes darkness. And that light has the power to transform lives, including our own. 2) Visit Thrive’s website. Read the inspiring stories of hope and transformation. Look for the story of a former member whose life was profoundly changed and who now serves as a key member of the Thrive staff. Finally, if you feel drawn to Thrive’s mission, consider getting involved. That could mean supporting us financially, volunteering as a coach, or just spreading the word. Or maybe you know someone in a tough situation—someone who’s lost hope and could use help taking that first step. Thrive is here for them. If you’ve gotten this far, thank you! I encourage you to take an easier next step: visit Thrive’s website, read our stories, and consider how you might partner with us in making a difference.
Colorado Gives Day is on December 10th! Early giving has already started, and you can give today! This year, we have an exciting opportunity to amplify your generosity: A generous donor has pledged $10,000 and is challenging our Thrive community to join him in supporting a program that changes lives. When individuals gain the confidence and skills to overcome barriers and secure employment, hope is renewed, dignity is restored, and lives are transformed. Here’s how you can make an even bigger impact: - New monthly donations are matched up to $100 from now until December 10th. - Every donation receives a boost from the Colorado Gives Day Incentive Fund, maximizing your contribution! We want to help our donors have the greatest impact with their giving. In our latest blog post, NGHS Foundation discusses three key questions we should ask ourselves: whether to increase our giving, when to give, and what type of assets to donate. These simple choices can have a big impact on how much our gifts help. To read more and learn how we can make our donations go further, click here: https://bit.ly/3xFXclu

Most people think that the only way to donate is by giving money. But your time & skills can be just as valuable. Every quarter at Pink Trumpet, I donate to an organization that supports women & girls. In Q1 of 2024, I gave my time & resources. Recently, I supported: → Pastoral Women’s Council (PWC) With their 2023 annual report. For many nonprofits, while an annual report is a great fundraising tool, the cost of creating one can be quite high. It’s instances like this where the gift of time can be the most valuable donation. Check out a few pages of the report here and a link to their website is in the comment below!

First Step's Giving Day is back next Tuesday 7 May! On this special day, all donations will be matched by our generous major donors until we hit our target of $30,000. What that means is that for every dollar YOU donate, THEY will match it - DOUBLE the donation, DOUBLE the impact! How good is that? May 7 is also International Harm Reduction Day so save the date, spread the word and support First Step's life-saving work! Watch this space for more details over the next few days! #FirstStep #LifeWithAddiction #HarmReduction #IHRD24 @InternationalHarmReductionDay First Step Legal
