I've noticed a really hopeful and gratifying trend over the last month. (Actually, I *am* referring to the last month we've all been through...) I keep talking to friends and colleagues who deliberately mention the urgent need for independent #climate #journalism as a bulwark against the challenges ahead. Yes, I'm in those conversations. But what I find striking is that _they're the ones bringing it up_, not me. I mean, sure, they know they're talking to someone from The Energy Mix. But spontaneously pointing to the strategic value we're trying to offer? That's new. We know we're in tough and troubling times, all of us. That makes it all the more important to limit the damage to climate solutions and build new pathways to speed up the #energy transition. TBH, I can't think of a higher purpose for a news outlet. But to keep up the momentum -- no matter what's ahead -- we need to ask to make sure we can keep on giving back. Transforming Surplus into Climate Solutions: This Earth Month, The Farmlink Project (https://lnkd.in/gp7KzjCD) is maximizing our climate impact for the entire month of April. We are thrilled to announce, 100% of every dollar donated through our website will go directly to rescuing potatoes. Donating $25 not only rescues 500 potatoes, but also generates a tangible positive climate impact by preventing 1,190 pounds of emissions—equivalent to an average car driving the entire length of the U.S. west coast." By redistributing fresh food into communities, we create a convenient climate positive option for farmers, and are able to eliminate environmentally harmful emissions. With each truckload, we respond to the global climate call to action to reduce methane emissions, and eradicate hunger in our lifetimes.
