‼️ Big News: We’re thrilled to announce that our board of directors has put up an additional $100,000 in matching funds to celebrate the Hilton Family Forest victory! That means $100,000 is now 👉 $200,000 👈 in matching funds to protect at-risk forests across the country. Over the last week, the conservation community has come together to help us raise funds to protect America’s forests, which are being lost at a rate of nearly 1M acres a year. We’ve made great progress, but we still have work to do to unlock the full $200,000 matching gift. For the next six days, every $1 you donate to The Conservation Fund instantly becomes $2. Another forest secured! We’re thrilled to announce that our team has just secured over 44,000 acres of breathtaking forest in northern Maine. Known as the Hilton Family Forest, this expansive property is home to four high-elevation peaks, multiple waterfalls, and is critical habitat for moose, Golden eagle, Peregrine falcon, and countless other species. The land also supports the local timber and maple sugar industries and offers spectacular outdoor recreation opportunities, including hiking, biking, hunting, and fishing. Today, we celebrate this incredible win. But we must also prepare so that we are ready to save the next at-risk forest that goes up for auction. For the next 10 days, our board of directors will match every donation to protect at-risk forests like the Hilton Family Forest. Right now, we’re facing one of the greatest land conservation challenges of our time, and we need your help. Our country is poised to lose 13 million acres of forestland in the coming decades. Every year, private landowners sell hundreds of thousands of acres of forests at auction, to be carved up for commercial development. These are lands that provide us with clean air, clean water, habitat that supports wildlife, outdoor recreation opportunities, and more than 2 million jobs in rural communities. The Conservation Fund is on the front line, working urgently to save at-risk forests and prevent them from being broken up or developed. So far we’ve: 🌳Secured more than 2 million acres of forest across 45 states 🦅Safeguarded habitat for countless species 🌎Stored 489M metric tons of CO2e The Conservation Fund’s board of directors has stepped up to help us address this critical challenge. For the next 14 days, they will match all donations — up to $100,000 — to help us protect these irreplaceable landscapes. Let’s make a difference together. Donate today and double your contribution at https://lnkd.in/ey7AWS45. 📷 Jerry Monkman, Ian Shive, Jerry Monkman, Jay Brittain

Did you know The Conservation Fund has prioritized conservation of working farmland, ranchland and forests since our founding in 1985? Of the nearly 9 million acres across the U.S. we have protected, over 3 million acres are working lands that generate economic value and jobs in local communities. And in Georgia, we've secured over 1,100 acres across 22 farms in the region. Learn more about how we sustain working farms in Georgia and across the country: bit.ly/402pClE.

"Solving for great challenges like climate mitigation and the energy transformation, as well as loss of habitat and biodiversity, the protection of safe drinking water, and the vitality of rural economies. This is about taking risks and saying “Yes.” Focusing not on what conservation can prevent, but what it can do. " -Lawrence A.
