There is so much to learn in this new report from the Autistic Self Advocacy Network, but the central takeaway for me is this: People (including those with IDD) are whole. It is our systems that are fragmented, and that is harming folks with IDD. Read more about how a more holistic approach to improving behavior supports would integrate a focus on physical health, mental health, and other factors. https://lnkd.in/eZ3U2P5k

Have you heard about the National Autism Strategy that's in the works? It's a big deal, aiming to seriously improve life for Autistic individuals across the country. The strategy is tackling four key outcome areas that are so important for our Autistic loved ones: 1. Creating truly inclusive communities where Autistic people feel they truly belong 2. Supporting learning and employment opportunities to unlock their full potential 3. Ensuring access to good quality support services when they need them 4. Prioritising health and mental wellbeing for Autistic individuals Whether you're an individual with autism yourself, a parent, family member, carer or just care about this cause, your input matters! The more we engage, the better the strategy can represent what the community truly needs. You may send your feedback until the end of May to the Australian Government Department of Social Services until the end of May: https://lnkd.in/gqvu4vpe
