In case we didn't know how important teachers are, #UNESCO and #EducationInternational (EI) have declared that the 5th of October is World Teachers Day. Today is a good day to remember that becoming an asset in the boardroom means being uniquely valuable ie. being your best self. While this may start at home, it is honed in the classroom and sports field. Great teachers inspire you to be the best version of yourself that you can be. #teacherlife #teachersday #educationthatmatters #educators #leadershipdevelopment UNESCO and EI mount a campaign each year to help give the world better understanding of teachers and the role they play in the development of students and society. The theme for World Teachers' Day 2024 is "Valuing teacher voices: towards a new social contract for education." This theme is crucial as it highlights the importance of recognising and amplifying the voices of educators, addressing their obstacles, and the benefits they provide in the classroom.

Many countries, particularly those in the Global South with colonial legacies, rely on outdated curricula that overlook local knowledge and diverse pedagogies. This has created an urgent need for transformative education that is inclusive, contextually relevant, and globally conscious. Such an approach integrates local knowledge, addresses identity, diversity, and equity issues, and recognises the cultural heritage and values of learners. UNESCO-IBE’s flagship initiative endogenous curriculum and universal values aims to help countries develop appropriate curricula, supporting Sustainable Development Goal 4 and other UN goals. The approach emphasizes a curriculum that is systemic, holistic, sociocultural, learner-centred, and shaped by teachers as co-developers. #MITWPU #RamCharanSchoolOfLeadership #TeachersDay #WorldTeachersDay #UNESCO World Teachers’ Day is held annually on 5 October to celebrate all teachers around the globe. It is a day to celebrate how teachers are transforming education but also to reflect on the support they need to fully deploy their talent and vocation, and to rethink the way ahead for the profession globally. It commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which sets benchmarks regarding the rights and responsibilities of teachers, and standards for their initial preparation and further education, recruitment, employment, and teaching and learning conditions. The Recommendation concerning the Status of Higher-Education Teaching Personnel was adopted in 1997 to complement the 1966 Recommendation by covering teaching personnel in higher education. World Teachers’ Day has been celebrated since 1994. Teachers play a pivotal role in shaping the future by nurturing students and driving educational progress. However, to fully harness their potential, it’s crucial that their voices are heard and valued in the decision-making processes that affect their profession. This year’s World Teachers’ Day highlights the need to address the systemic challenges teachers face and to establish a more inclusive dialogue about their role in education. Greetings of World Teachers Day to all Teachers, Mentors and Global Educators.. MIT World Peace University UNESCO

Traditional educational models, where teachers primarily convey knowledge at school, were developed when the average human lifespan was under 50 years and technological and social changes were much slower. Today, continuous learning throughout an individual’s life is essential. Education[*] must be reimagined to address urgent, unprecedented challenges like the climate crisis, the rise of generative AI, increasing inequalities, and ongoing conflicts. To effectively tackle these challenges, a long-term view is crucial for education to shape more inclusive, just, and sustainable futures. On December 3, the UNESCO International Forum on the Futures of Education 2024 continued with its second day, focusing on crucial themes that will influence the future of education. The keynote speech titled "The Right to Education Throughout Life in the Digital Era" explored how digitalization is transforming the core principles of lifelong education. This session also discussed related rights such as privacy, access to information, participation, and non-discrimination, emphasizing the importance of protecting these rights in an increasingly digital world. I’m sharing the link to the recording of the live broadcast in case you’re interested in watching some or all of the proceedings. --- [*]Clear is kind: Education refers to the broad process of acquiring knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes through various forms of learning experiences. It encompasses both formal and informal contexts, including self-learning, family guidance, community involvement, and cultural transmission. Education is lifelong, adaptive, and can happen anywhere, at any time. #LifelongLearning #RightToEducation #FuturesOfEducation 🔮🚸👩🏽💻
