🌍 I had the incredible opportunity to participate at the 4th UN Forum on Business and Human Rights in Europe and Central Asia, held in Budva last week. The event brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and advocates to explore the crucial intersection of EU policies and business responsibilities in human rights, including the much-discussed EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). 💡 Key Highlights: Insightful discussions on how the CSDDD will shape business practices in Europe and Central Asia. Practical steps businesses can take to align with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. A thought-provoking survey launched to assess the readiness of businesses to implement these transformative frameworks. Attending the first day of the United Nations’ 13th Forum on Business and Human Rights has underlined my conviction that the innovation frameworks that we have developed for sustainable business opportunities from a corporate point of view actually very much apply to any business and societal challenges. By holistically considering complete ecosystems, engaging all stakeholders, clearly defining their requirements and aligning on objectives it is possible to find innovative solutions that provide sustainable benefits for all. In this respect I’d like to quote parts of the inspirational opening speech by Volker Türk, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights: “We urgently need leadership from governments, civil society and business to find solutions that are sustainable, equitable and just. For the interests of all. Not just for the privileged few. We need leaders who value long-term stability over short-term wins.” “More broadly, I urge us all to expand the way we measure economic success beyond GDP so that we have a holistic picture of how economies are delivering on people's rights.” “… we can choose to harness the fast-evolving technological capacity and other tremendous resources at our disposal to contribute to the well-being of future generations.” I'm very much looking forward to hearing your opinions.
