#CaseStudy Have you ever wondered what's behind a museum renovation? We're excited to share our first Case Study on the project we've been working on since 2021 for the Rovereto Civic Museum Foundation (Fondazione Museo Civico di Rovereto). Our contribution has included staff training, a gradual reinstallation of all museum galleries, and the development of a new interpretive apparatus. It has involved various roles and skills from the We Exhibit team in the development of: ~ Exhibition Design: reinstallation of the museum's exhibition spaces and renovation of the interpretive apparatus to improve accessibility and engagement; ~ Workshops: training staff on accessibility, communication, interpretation, and evaluation issues to facilitate smoother comparison and exchange during the redesign phase. For anyone considering a motion-based installation there is a VITAL lesson "hidden" in this video. The reason this #activation works so well has little to do with the actual programming. The secret is the circles on light on the floor telling people where to stand. As long as one person stands on each circle this activation will sing. The minute three or four people crowd around, or the two people wander from their circles it all starts to fall apart. So often, the success or failure of an interactive activation has less to do with the technology than the environment in which the it is activated. #experientialdesign #interactive
Artistic collective Universal Everything created the 'Symbiosis' exhibition, an interactive window into a microscopic world for the museum of screen culture ACMI in Melbourne 🇦🇺. 📍 Premiering now at the 'Beings' exhibition. I find this particular piece fascinating since the digital 'characters' really invite visitors to interact with each other. It's so important to design spaces where there is a collective sense and a shared journey, since a lot of us are quite isolated in our everyday lives. #ACMI #Melbourne #DigitalArt #InteractiveArt

A New Era for Museums? Is it? The British Museum's new director, Nicholas Cullinan, has announced the most ambitious transformation of any museum in the world. After a series of security controversies and criticism over funding sources, this $1.3 billion overhaul aims to digitize the museum's entire collection and renovate its vast galleries. But beyond the headlines, this change reflects a broader conversation in the museum world. How can institutions like the British Museum not only protect their collections but also respect the histories and civilizations they represent? As museums become more tech-savvy, they must also face the ethical questions surrounding their collections. Is it going to be done? What are your thoughts on the future of museums? Are we heading toward a more responsible and inclusive museum experience? Let’s discuss! #WikiWEEX Did you know who was the first to introduce the topic of accessibility in the museum world? In the 1920s, John Cotton Dana was the director of the Newark Museum, a prominent museum just outside New York City that remains open today. Today, Dana is remembered as one of the first to develop significant reflections on accessibility and the sense of community that every museum should aim to promote. Among his famous quotes: “A department store, easily accessible and open at all hours, perhaps tells us more than a good art museum and all the museums we have created so far.” If you are interested in learning more about accessibility in exhibition design, don't miss our dedicated training program. The first course will focus on exhibition design, and registration is now open. 📍 Course: Progettare per le persone: allestimenti accessibili 14-16 Febraury 2025 🔗 [LINK] https://lnkd.in/dDdUCCTd - #WeExhibit #AskWeex #ArtIsInTheProcess #WEEXFormazione #TrainingSeries #Formazione #ExhibitionDesign #ExhibitDesign

This International Museum Day is themed "Museums for Education and Research." It underscores these cultural institutions’ pivotal role in shaping a more informed, sustainable, and inclusive society. “People trust museums as places where they can learn about the world and learn about themselves; museums do so much more than meets the eye,” says Zena Howard FAIA, our global cultural and civic practice leader. Find out how established and emerging institutions are shaking up what it means to be arbiters of culture: https://lnkd.in/ef6tUxs5 #IMD #knowledgeilluminated #PWinsights #designinsights
