One to read! In this book, former president of Ireland Mary Robinson highlights how women, especially those who are Indigenous, are suffering the consequences on the frontlines of climate change. A wake-up call for those of us who are perhaps distanced from the overwhelming effects of climate change, here she shares stories from the plains and villages of Africa, to the forests of Vietnam, small island nations of the Pacific Ocean and to the tundras of Alaska, highlighting the difficult first-hand experiences of these people and their communities. One resounding commonality that each concludes: taking matters into their own hands. Change will not be made solely by those “in power”, but rather from the ground up, grassroots movements and independent initiatives becoming truly empowered themselves. A call to action to get building true caring community and to get a hands-on approach in what really matters in the fight for climate justice: people and their livelihoods surviving until, with hope and determination, they can once again thrive. #ClimateJustice #MustReads #Books #ClimateChange #Resilience

👪 Today is the International Day of Families, which emphasizes the roles families play in society. This year marks the 30th anniversary of this observation, and the theme is ‘Families & Climate Change: International Year of the Family + 30,’ which aims to raise awareness of how climate change impacts families and the role families can play in climate action. This theme focuses on empowering families through education, changing consumption habits, and advocacy. Families pass values across generations, so instilling sustainable habits and climate awareness in families is important for future generations.
