1 in 2 women may experience a fracture in their lifetime. While menopause increases risk, balance training might reduce it. After observing hip fracture surgeries in medical school, I'm bullish on prescribing balance training for longevity. Falling and having a hip fracture can cause significant disability for many and even be fatal for some. This risk can be minimised by engaging in resistance training to increase your strength, muscle mass and bone health. But then, how can you reduce your risk of falling in the first place? Engaging in activities that test and improve your balance is key. There are many ways to easily do this and a quick search will help you find ones that work for you. Just think about balance as a form of medicine. You won't need it, until you do. 🙏🏾 P.S. I'm planning to conduct a few strength training masterclasses in Singapore to improve bone health and lower osteoporosis risk for women navigating perimenopause and beyond.
