Congratulations to Rep. Elise Stefanik on her nomination by President-elect Trump to serve in his Cabinet as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. As a staunch supporter of nodules as a source of U.S. critical minerals and the House Republican Conference Chair, Stefanik has called on the Department of Defense to "emphasize the importance of evaluating and planning for seabed mining as a new vector of competition with China for resource superiority and security." With support from the Senate, we look forward to Rep. Stefanik's growing influence at the UN as the International Seabed Authority works towards the final adoption of the mining code in 2025. https://lnkd.in/eb4Xsc5s https://lnkd.in/e6ciHSMb #deepseamining #energytransition #nationalsecurity #criticalminerals #supplychain

Outstanding article. Fascinating insights here. I know that the interaction between our former president and those governing Latin America have stoked competition in the mining/earthmoving industry there. Chinese heavy equipment manufacturers such as XCMG, SANY, and SINOTRUK are gaining significant market share, posing challenges for CAT. This trend certainly includes Chile and Peru in particular, highlighting the strong presence of these manufacturers in the region. #MiningIndustry #Competition #MarketTrends

Could opposition to a proposed #copper mine in Arizona determine the fate of the #USelection? And if it does - what opportunities and responsibilities does that present for Canada? Canada is - and needs to be ever more so - the supplier of choice for #criticalminerals to America. Be it copper for electrification or #nickel for #nationalsecurity - Canada is a safe bet to help America and our NATO allies stockpile these essential materials to protect our borders, our economies and our environment. We need to build more mines and #mineralprocessing - on both sides of our border. #canpoli #cdnpoli #mining #energytransition #energysecurity #energytransformation #lithium #graphite #rareearthelements

This is obscene. The current cohort of relevant U.S. officials who are driving US-Africa policy are myopic thinkers. Too much of it is based on the short-term and its clearly transactional. The upshot is that it makes all Washington has to say about democracy, human rights, and transparency ring hollow. The #DRCongo is Exhibit A and it's illustrative of this woeful state of affairs.

Very interesting idea. Strategically and economically wise especially since China, Russia, and Iran (geopolitical rivals) have significant advantages in the rare earth minerals needed in the modern age with the tech sector. Another key to long term prosperity is the factor of production for farmers whose efforts allow for a growing population. I do wonder if she has also taken into account the importance of potash and other fertilizers which American farmers depend on. Belarus is a key source of potash which Russia is currently looking to take over with the Union State plan. Food and tech products are key in the modern age. As such one has to wonder how to strengthen US influence in core sectors of production. American farmers and families are looking to increase their income on the global market with the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the brewing resistance in Belarus as a potential catalyst for long term economic stability for both the world market and US families. How might Harris get the breadbasket of Ukraine and the core potash industry of Belarus back into the hands of western markets?
One of the few new ideas floated in Kamala Harris's economic proposal was a plan for a “strategic critical mineral reserve.“ But what is that, and why would the U.S. need one?

In the global race for lithium, Bolivia should be one of the winners. The South American country holds the world’s largest reserves, but a decades-long nationalisation strategy, coupled with economic and political instability, is preventing the industry from taking off. Divisions in the governing party have spiralled over the past few weeks, with an allegedly staged coup intensifying of the power struggle between Evo Morales and Luis Arce. Meanwhile, some countries have been accused of meddling in local politics to gain control over natural resources, with the US allegedly pushing for what would be a "servile" right-wing government. We may have to wait for next year's election to provide more clarity. Fernando Prats at London Politica tells me there are three potential scenarios for the lithium industry, which we explore in my latest feature: #lithium #bolivia #arce #morales #criticalminerals #geopolitics #lithiumtriangle #mining

🇧🇴🔋Bolivia's Lithium Sector Amid a Tense Political Landscape Check out this very interesting piece by Giulia Bottaro featured at Kallanish Commodities analysing Bolivia's lithium sector amidst an increasingly uncertain landscape following the coup attempt and growing tensions within MAS party. I had the opportunity to contribute some political insights that are crucial for anyone interested in the region's lithium landscape: ➡️ Bolivian's lithium sector strictly requires a more open approach to reach its full potential, as it lacks the technology and human capital. While some of president Arce's policies are moving in this direction, it is still far more restrictive that Argentina 🇦🇷 and Chile 🇨🇱. ➡️ It is essential to monitor the 2025 elections 🗳, as different outcomes can lead to varied scenarios. I analysed potential policies under Arce, Morales and a right-wing administration. ➡️ Despite possible changes, the statist and restrictive approach is unlikely to be significantly altered, even with new developments in 2025. Political fragmentation and opposition from local communities would constrain ⛔️ any attempt at profound changes. 👀 Are you interested in the mineral landscape in Latin America? Philosophies have to change. Old ways of doing business wont work with today’s geopolitical landscape. Anybody paying attention knew this was coming and will also reach the other provinces dependant on its outcome. But are we not tired of awaiting on court rulings or allowing court rulings dictate our future? The work needs to be put in to see better outcomes. We made agreement before and we called it treaty and I refuse to believe we cannot find agreement again. We have too! The future of our country depends on it https://lnkd.in/gAVevtmc
