One of my booth items at the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits conference this week is a chance for attendees to vote on their most annoying administrative challenge by dropping a plastic pumpkin into the bin. Here's how it's going: 1. Roughly half of participants want to vote for all three options (not allowed!) 2. It's taking about .0335 seconds for people to vote once they read all the options. 3. Nonprofit admin work has clear pain points for organizations of all sizes and types, be it a nonprofit, association, or foundation. Today is the final day of the conference and two categories are in a virtual tie so we'll see what happens!

One of the greatest challenges facing nonprofits today is the need to stand out from the crowd. After all, while your nonprofit is unique, there are over 1.5 million nonprofits in the U.S. alone, meaning there are thousands of other nonprofits with similar or adjacent missions to yours competing for donors’ attention. So, how can you pull ahead and ensure your organization is set up to experience success now and in the future? Read our most recent blog, courtesy of DonorSearch, at https://buff.ly/4aRCvkF, to find out!

This month at the Nonprofit Mission Focused Mixer we discussed the backbones of our nonprofit organizations, VOLUNTEERS! They donate a precious commodity, their time. We spent time talking about how staying mission-focused can help attract, retain, and engage volunteers for your organization. Here are five highlights from our mixer: • Strategies for engaging volunteers, specifically the importance of understanding the organization's mission and needs. • The importance of impact, helping others, and personal experiences as driving factors. • The importance of effective engagement with volunteers. • Best practices for fostering meaningful connections with volunteers. • How to recognize and celebrate the impact of all volunteers within an organization.
