Imitation might be the sincerest form of flattery, but it's originality, authenticity, and heart that truly set us apart. We’re excited to see more functional foods entering the market. However, when a brand not only adopts our distinctive product name but also mirrors our marketing and photography, it raises a question: inspiration or imitation? We’ll leave it to you to decide. #foodforthought For context, the image of the left was taken and posted by us almost 12 months ago!

What separates the mediocre from the great? I’d argue that attention to detail and love of the process creates results that standout in any endeavor. In my business of headshot and branding photography, it’s not only about the finished image, it’s about the care that someone feels while they’re in front of my camera that really matters to me. Most people feel a bit vulnerable being photographed and that’s completely understandable. I don’t love having my picture made either. I’m responsible for nurturing that feeling of self consciousness & guiding them through it to create images that reflect the most confident version of themselves.

Colour is one of the most important 'tools' in food photography. It gives the viewer an idea about what the dish tastes like and how fresh it is. It enlivens the recipe and makes it visually interesting. Often, it's what first catches our attention. But not only that...It also has the power to create a certain mood and make someone feel something. When used well, it can become a powerful storyteller. My current favourite is green and orange combination. Isn't it a magnetic pair? #editorialfoodphotography

Great product ≠ Sales ≠ Millionaire. I wish it were that simple, but it's not 99% of the time. What it takes is a great product + strategy + marketing + visuals + consistent brand promise. Look at the image below; the strategy here is to evoke emotions of love and romanticism, and what works better than a rose? We are conditioned to associate it with love, which means we associate the piece of jewelry in a similar way. Want to work on your strategy or make your brand stand out? What do you see? A staircase from above or below? It’s a question of perspective—and that’s the magic of interesting visuals. They make you stop and really look. I aim to do the same with my photography. I don’t just take pictures; I craft perspectives that tell your story in ways that captivate, intrigue, and connect. My photo sessions are about seeing you—your brand, your vision, your essence—from a fresh angle. Because sometimes, a shift in perspective is all it takes to stand out. Smile and the whole world smiles with you 😀 It's a saying we've all heard, but how often do we actually put it into practice? When it comes to personal branding photography, a genuine smile can go a long way People are drawn to those who appear happy, confident, and approachable Incorporating playful, fun elements into your personal brand photography can make you seem more relatable and human After all, who doesn't love a good laugh? Don't be afraid to let your personality shine through A few candid shots of you cracking a smile or even full-on giggling can humanise your brand and make you more memorable The key is to avoid stiff, overly posed images and instead capture your authentic self At the end of the day, people want to work with and support individuals they genuinely like So go ahead, flash that grin and the whole world will be smiling right back at you! #personalbrandingphotography #headshots #smile

This Kind of Lifestyle Image Won’t Highlight Your Product Brands love to use lifestyle images with their product overlaid on the side only. I’m assuming they do this to save money on photography, but it’s a BIG no-no! Brands are losing more money than they think. Your image should depict someone actively using your product. (after photo) This way, it highlights your target customer and your product simultaneously. Not only that, it evokes more emotions! My top tip for today is ⬇️ Define your goal: Knowing the aim of your photo shoot will help you focus on getting the right images for what you need. The photography element of your business should have the same focus as everything else. It is not about pretty images, it's about telling those stories and attracting the right clients. Have you got some new products or services you want to show off? Do you have a specific campaign? Perhaps something seasonal? Or images to make your business more recognisable and authentic? Having a clear goal will help you make the most of your photoshoot.
