What is the #1 predictor of startup success? According to Y Combinator it is how long the co-founders have known each other. By that metric, my next guest on The Startup CEO Show is certain to succeed. Elizabeth Caley 🌺 Elizabeth (EC) Caley is co-CEO of Poppy. She has a long relationship with her fellow CEO as they previously built and sold Meta. Yes, that Meta: The one that enabled Zuckerberg to rebrand Facebook. As an aside, I did that deal with them. But that's another story. In this episode we explore: ✅ The co- CEO relationship ✅ How to avoid a two-tier leadership structure when the founders are so close ✅ How to push the limits inside your company And many more topics. We've seen Nicholas Clancy grow from junior software engineer to CTO. Piero Sansone was fortunate to place Nic into his first role straight out of uni. In this episode of ScaleUp SoundBytes Nicholas Clancy shares with us his career journey and how this classic sliding doors moment shaped his life and passion for start-ups. He's scaled his career incredibly fast in what could only be described as taking the bull by the horns. Within a decade he's taken roles as Head of Engineering and now CTO. He's also an angel investor in other startups, which we also get into. This talk is all about what it's like to ride the startup roller coaster as an employee and what to expect if you are considering joining one. There's loads of risk, but the rewards are huge compared to a typical career if you play your cards right. Thanks again for chat mate! P.S. We are now up to episode 15! With a few more in the works! Such a great episode with some interesting insights into the start up world and so much valuable info to take away. I personally enjoyed the bit where Nick says to JUST SHIP IT! Something 50% completed and shipped is better than something 99% completed and not shipped. Thanks so much to Nicholas Clancy for coming on the pod and so good to have had a front row seat watching your amazing career through to CTO. If you are an engineer looking to get into a start up, or generally interested in start ups, it's a must listen! #ScaleUp #ScaleUpSoundBytes
