Embracing a Healthier Lifestyle: The Natural Prescription 💐 🌿💪 As we navigate the complexities of modern health, it’s essential to remember that sometimes, the best medicine doesn’t come in a bottle. Before considering GLP-1 medications for conditions like Type 2 diabetes or obesity, let’s explore the power of lifestyle medicine. The six pillars of a healthy lifestyle include: Eating nutritious foods🥗 Regular physical activity🏃♀️ Managing stress effectively🌷 Getting restful 😴 Avoiding harmful substances🍸 Fostering strong social connections👫 Studies suggest that adhering to these principles can prevent up to 70-80% of coronary heart disease and 90% of type 2 diabetes. Moreover, they protect against a myriad of health issues, from hypertension to dementia. While GLP-1 medications like Wegovy and Ozempic can be beneficial, they are often part of a broader treatment plan that includes the crucial elements of lifestyle changes. These medications manage blood sugar levels and aid in weight loss, but are not standalone solutions. So, before reaching for medical intervention, consider this: a commitment to a healthier lifestyle is a commitment to a fuller, more vibrant life. It’s a journey worth embarking on, and the rewards extend far beyond the numbers on a scale. #HealthFirst #LifestyleMedicine #HealthyLiving

Functional medicine can seem a bit mysterious to some people. Maybe you’ve been curious about what to expect but hesitant to take the leap. So, I want to take a minute to fill you in on what the experience is like when you become a patient in our practice. First of all, here are some of the conditions we have a lot of success in treating: 👉🏾PCOS 👉🏾Insulin Resistance/Pre-/Diabetes Type 2 👉🏾Thyroid Disorders 👉🏾Hormonal Imbalances 👉🏾Stubborn Weight Basically, we specialize in the things that standard medicine just can’t seem to solve… The process goes like this: 1️⃣The first step is a wellness assessment that can be done via telemedicine or in-office. This is a 90+ minute appointment where you get a full evaluation and intake including advanced vitals, EKG, full physical exam, and drawing fasting labs based on your present concerns and symptoms. If you’re in the area, I highly encourage you to schedule an in-person. We make tremendous efforts to ensure you have one of the most pleasant visits with your doctor...ever. 2️⃣ The second step is a follow up to review those labs and discuss abnormalities and possible diagnoses that you likely weren’t aware of before. 3️⃣The third step is to develop a personalized protocol to get you on track towards the best version of YOU! This may include simple recommendations for the right vitamins/supplements/herbs to take, dietary changes, or even more in-depth solutions with exact meal plans, recipes, and more!☺️ Once we do these 3 things, you’ll be well on your way to feeling better. We’ll follow up to check labs or tweak your protocol every few weeks to ensure no steps are lost along the way and that you always have a supportive hand. If you’re ready to be proactive about your health and get the results you deserve, the first step is to book an appointment. We have options if you’re still “on the fence”. 😉 Check out our practice website for more info (link in bio) or send me a DM if you have more questions. I look forward to being a part of your wellness journey! #getwell #holistichealing #functionalmedicine #rootcause #directprimarycare #dpc #fxnalmed

MONDAY AfyaTALK: THE BEST MEDICINE STARTS IN YOUR KITCHEN. The life hack management of many #diseases especially non communicable diseases starts with how right you prepare/get what you eat. A basic computer code is garbage in garbage out. This also applies to our body systems. Food is composed of bio-chemical elements which have different propositions. Talk of both macro and micro-nutrients, contaminants, micro-organisms which some even resist the cooking heat and so on. All this components get in out body. They have impact on out physiology. Our digestive system metabolises each particle and outputs just it right. So this bio-chemical components find its way into extra-gut system through assimilation and they homeostatically affect us. Just as #pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of drugs vs body are concerned. Diabetes (High blood sugar/Hyperglycermia), High Blood Pressure (Hypertension), Cardio-Vasicular diseases (CVD) can be managed with WHAT WE EAT, aside MEDICATIONS that manage this. This has to work correlatively. You DONT replace medication with food, You DONT equaly replace food with #medication, However however much medications you take, when you dont correct what you EAT, medicines even become a burden/less effective and that can collapse your whole system. What to do: -Normalise exercises -Avoid excess #alcoholism n smoking -Avoid excess sugar and salt. -Stay stress free as much as you can -Normalise hydrating your body to maintain fluid balance and cells -Be productive- Find sth that engages you Have a good day. #letsconnect :(whatsapp) +254720050551 Write to me: isaacogutu66@gmail.com ISAAC OGUTU KUSA, AKUMELS, FOYA, CCA Awards Winning Health Champion! Witnessing the impact of COVID-19 firsthand was one of the toughest experiences of my career. Running a COVID ward, I saw immense suffering and loss daily.
