The Pre-Election Solidarity Mission entailed a series of meetings and briefings with key election stakeholders including the Electoral Commission of Ghana, the NCCE GHANA, the National Peace Council (NPC), the CHRAJ GHANA, the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers, the Institute of Democratic Governance; the Civic Forum Initiative (CFI), the WANEP_Regional (WANEP-Ghana), the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress. We commend Ghanaians for their peaceful conduct in the pre-election phase and call for continued engagement in the electoral process as the people remain sovereign in Ghana’s democracy. Ethnical affiliations for political parties . . . After several examinations of modern #political landscape in Africa. I've come to my conclusion that as much as the political class in Africa is failing the continent, the #electorate/voters are to be blamed as well. Why do the majority of us vote an individual to public office just because they come from our #ethnicity? Why is it that for you to cast your vote, you need the person seeking office to #bribe you 200 Naira, Ksh . . . Why do you feel safe when a person from your ethnic group occupies the presidential seat? Why is it that If you're asked on which grounds did you elect a particular candidate into office, you don't understand! . . . what you care is that, you were given a token that in return you were made to be a voting machine. This is the sad reality about Africa, and if you don't see it in kenya, you will see it in Uganda, if you don't see it in Uganda you will see it Zimbabwe and so on an so on . . . #politics #Africa #motherland #elections #ethnicity #bribe

You have to hand it to them...despite a massive upset in South Africa's national elections, with the ANC losing their 30 year majority grip on power, the competing factions were able to pull together a coalition Government relatively quickly. Could be some lessons in that for other countries. With the ANC securing 40% of the vote (well under par), it was forced to partner up with other parties to form a coalition and the Democratic Alliance (DA) was the lions share in that agreement. Generally polar opposites, it was more likely the only workable way to form a Government that didn't include the EFF or Jacob Zuma. This will obviously see some South Africans, holding out hope that the DA's influence will come to bear on the previous issues that the DA were responsible for, but how much influence they bring remains to be seen. Cyril Ramaphosa will be supported to be re-elected as President, through this coalition, which will have others in the country wondering if they are in for another term of much the same. We certainly have seen an increase in interest from South Africans looking to make the move, unsure as to what this coalition might offer that could be any different (and might fix some of the countries key issues). #southafricansinnz #nzimmigration #migratetonz #workvisas #skilledmigration #parentvisas #nzvisas
