Addressing the sanitation crisis in South Africa is a complex challenge, with varying factors coming into play when selecting innovative sanitation solutions. That’s why a one-size-fits-all approach to transforming sanitation in Southern Africa is not an ideal approach. We require a wide range of technologies and solutions to ensure each community and individual challenge is addressed. This is where a call for CSI investment in reinvented toilets is a vital focus of the WRC SASTEP. CSI budgets can be allocated to the installation and maintenance of Next Generation Sanitation technologies in vulnerable communities throughout South Africa. With a special focus on schools and educational institutions, as well as public spaces and informal settlements.
