Just leave and renounce sovereignty? It had no native inhabitants when we decided to transfer slaves to the Chagos from the recently captured French territory of Mauritius. It is possibly a moot point that the islands should be handed back to Mauritius rather than France - the uninhabited islands were simply administered from Mauritius by the French colonial government. After all Mauritius pre French colonial rule had nothing to do with the Chagos. The only connection is the British transfer of slaves. In fact the Maldives might have a better claim. But since we forcibly expelled the Chagosians as recently as the late 1960s I do think we owe their descendants proper compensation. And stuff the party political comments, the previous government was just as keen to do a deal. It’s hard to pontificate about other international events and the rule of international law, eg Ukraine. when you ignore it when it doesn’t suit you. Back to the 19th Century ……but we don’t have a navy now as we did when in support of our drugs trade we went to war with China to force them to accept our opium!

Mad . This Government is too dangerous to be left in charge . Nothing they have done is for the good of the country they are supposed to run . Get Trump to get the CIA to organise a coup , for Heaven’s sake . Otherwise its ruination.

It is forbidden, and will automatically induce N.A.T.O. involvement, Ipso facto.
