I’ve just shared a roundup on Instagram highlighting some incredible Black Friday and weekend sales from just a small sampling of the many talented, conscious (contemporary and designer) independent brands and retailers. So, if you’re shopping for fashion goods this weekend, consider directing your support toward independent brands that prioritize conscious production and independent specialty retailers that curate with distinct perspectives, and who champion emerging designers. This community needs our support more than ever. As we (thankfully) move back toward an era of personal style, let’s take Dame Vivienne Westwood’s timeless advice to heart: “Buy less, choose well and make it last”. She also encouraged people to “make it very personal” and to lean into personal style, the ultimate status symbol. In the comments I’ll link to my IG post where all are tagged. * A Piece Apart * By far * Christopher Esber * Ganni * Mansur Gavriel * Luisavisroma * Simkhai * Maimoun * Ririku * Lisa Says Gah * Wray * Tyler McGillivary * No 6 * France’s May * Garmentory * Sandy Liang * Intentionally blank * Assembly New York * Etica * La Garçonne Shopping secondhand is always a good move too, so if you’re shopping, also check out some sales from the key resale players and the many smaller resale curators: The RealReal , Vestiaire Collective , ThredUp , Depop , eBay . **Maximize Your Wardrobe Refresh with Early Black Friday Deals** As the fashion industry navigates the dynamic landscape of consumer behavior, early Black Friday sales present an intriguing opportunity for both retailers and consumers. With discounts reaching up to 50%, brands like Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus, and Zara are setting the stage for a prominent buying trend. Luxury brands traditionally known for exclusivity, such as Gucci and Louis Vuitton, are now accessible at reduced prices, potentially broadening their customer base. This shift is further echoed in the sustainable fashion sector, where companies like Patagonia and Reformation participate while maintaining eco-friendly commitments. For industry professionals, these sales pose an interesting question: How will early promotions like these influence consumer habits and brand loyalty in the long run? Moreover, how can retailers leverage these trends to enhance customer engagement and satisfaction?

Black Friday: Excess or Success? Did you hit your targets this Black Friday? 🛍️ I managed to stock up on a few of my favourites and also planned a few big purchases to tie in with the discounts. There seemed to be some cracking temptations this year that made it hard to resist and is Black Friday more than just 1 day or even 1 week now? From skincare essentials to memorable perfumes, it felt like Christmas had arrived early and the stores certainly seemed very busy which is always lovely to see. Some of the standout deals included between 20% to 50% off various skincare products, including Clarins, Estee lauder, Byoma, and The Inkey List and up to 70% off selected fragrances even including some of the luxury brands like Chanel and Dior. Dyson and Unilever have been in the press recently with mass redundancies, but they still got people talking with discounts. Did these deals mean we overindulged, or did we genuinely save on everyday items and special treats? 🤔 In my experience, it's a mix—scoring on everyday necessities while also allowing ourselves those special luxury splurges we've been eyeing all year. or the chance to try something new So, what do you think? Was Black Friday a triumphant success for your brand or a wallet-emptying excess for you personally? 💸 Share your thoughts and shopping stories below! #BlackFriday #BeautyDeals #Skincare #Makeup #Perfume #HairCare #Savings #RetailTherapy

Let’s Talk Black Friday: Fashion Insider POV 👗 Yesterday, Lyst made a post "How to prepare for Black Friday like a fashion insider." Their tips? Invest in timeless essentials, add a few trendy pieces to keep your style fresh, and explore contemporary designers and niche brands for standout finds. It sounds great, right? But here’s the thing - while Black Friday is all about scoring good deals, it’s not always the best time to support niche or emerging designers. Why? Because deep discounts often hurt small businesses. These are the brands that pour their heart and soul into every piece, valuing creativity, quality, and sustainability over fast production and mass sales. When we shop their collections, we’re not just buying items - we’re investing in their vision and helping their craft thrive. Sure, explore the deals for essentials, but when it comes to niche designers, consider supporting them directly - beyond the sale season. Their work deserves more than a price tag; it deserves appreciation. Fashion isn’t just about wearing something; it’s about making a choice that reflects your values. Let’s make that choice count. ✨ #ShopSmall #SupportCreativity #SlowFashion #NicheDesigners #SupportSmallBusinesses #SustainableFashion

Black Friday is a fantastic opportunity to score quality clothing without breaking the bank! 🛍️ Retailers offer significant discounts, often on premium brands. This is the perfect time to refresh your wardrobe with items that usually carry a hefty price tag. When shopping, pay attention to materials and construction for durability. Make a list to stay focused and avoid impulse buys. Remember, comparing prices across sites can help find the best deals. Ultimately, smart shopping means investing in pieces that combine both style and longevity! Happy shopping! #wildlystylishfreelyyours #madewithpredisai

For those who follow the brand for some time, you already know this: We don't do Black Friday. Marita Moreno, besides being a sustainable brand, is part of the slow fashion segment. We defend timeless fashion: We use quality materials in the production of our products for greater durability of the items and we add a timeless design that avoids fashion trends, which would imply shorter life cycles for the products. Our stock is very low, all our products are part of a limited series and this comes at a cost. We can't compete with big brands that make discounts of 50 to 70% at this time of year. Our manufacturing costs are high: We produce in Portugal, in small family factories, we work with mostly national raw materials and we work side by side with artisans in the manufacture of handcrafted and copyrighted pieces. Also, we’re against reinless consumption. Our role, as a company, is to try to show our consumers that it’s possible to consume consciously. We believe that consumption has to be done out of a need or a desire for a piece that makes sense in your wardrobe. We believe that we must support local brands, fair trade, especially small brands that struggle every day to be in such a massive sector and with the brutal competition that is the fashion industry. We do promotions throughout the year because we also realize that many people can only buy a piece that they want when it goes on sale, but not today. We hope you understand our positioning for not joining Black Friday. Thank you for being on this side 🌿 #sustainablebrands #ethicalbrands #artisanal #certifiedcrafters #cultureandheritage #portuguesepride #madeinportugal #maritamoreno_pt

Last-minute day-of Valentine's shopping proved to be consistent with the previous year, experiencing a minor 1.6% decline. Apparel and Health & Beauty sectors enjoyed positive trends, while Jewelry's performance was slightly better than the overall U.S. average. 👇 Read the complete article for critical facts and figures and follow me for more recommendations and insights within the retail space. https://lnkd.in/dT4hCMTc #ValentinesDay2024 #RetailTrends #USRetail #DataTrends #jewelry #apparel #healthandbeauty
