🌊 According to the NHS, 1 in 5 children in the UK now have a probable mental health condition, up from 1 in 9 just six years ago. These figures are alarming and reflect the urgent need to address the growing mental health crisis that affects not only young people but also their families, communities and society as a whole. At The Wave Project, we are committed to tackling this issue through our innovative #SurfTherapy, which has supported over 14,000 young people to date. We believe in the power of the ocean to foster resilience, build self-esteem and equip young people with the tools they need to face life’s challenges. 💙 Support us on this #YouthMentalHealthDay to advocate for accessible, tailored mental health support for all young people, because everyone deserves the chance to thrive: https://lnkd.in/ekTKBERa #MentalHealthMatters #YoungMinds #ControlYourScroll #stem4YMHD

Small steps, big changes: meeting youth mental health needs #CAMHSsmallsteps This webinar facilitated by #thementalelf today focused on how the mental health needs of children and young people can be met by making small changes to services. The webinar provided evidence-based insights into how we might improve children and young people’s mental health services from the perspectives of young people who use services, their parents and carers, the professionals delivering and commissioning these services and the international literature. Drawing on three National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) funded research projects led by Cardiff University (CAMH Crisis, CAMH Crisis 2) and University of Manchester (Blueprint), a panel of experts considered how these findings can be implemented into practice. The webinar was aimed at policy makers, commissioners and funders, service providers, practitioners, researchers and anyone interested in children and young people’s mental health provision. So good to see lived experience prioritised in their research. A very constructive and positive discussion to have in children's mental health week.

Did you know? Every year, 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem. 🫶 At New Reflexions, we understand the importance of mental health support, especially for the children in our care. But here's the alarming truth: Too many individuals aren't getting the help they need. Over 2 million people are currently waiting for NHS mental health services, and since 2017, the number of young people struggling with their mental health has nearly doubled. It's important that together we raise awareness, advocate for change, and support one another. #NewReflexions #ChildWellbeing #SupportServices #JoinUs #ResidentialChildcare #EveryChildMatters #MakeADifference #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek

Today, on #WorldMentalHealthDay, we spotlight the intersection between mental health and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Children who experience trauma are at a higher risk for long-term health issues, including mental health challenges. Together, we can redirect the trajectory toward healing and resilience with the right interventions, support, and policies. Let's commit to fostering environments where every child can thrive by safeguarding their mental wellness now and in the future. #MentalHealthMatters #PreventACEs
