How do you keep up to date with everything going on in fitness ? Specifically UK focused. Knowledge is power, used correctly. Trends changing, brands launching, new courses, collabs etc Tell me - what helps you stay informed ? Is it: ➡️Newsletters – Any go-to subscriptions that keep you in the loop? ➡️Podcasts – Which ones are great for industry listening on the go? ➡️Industry Communities – Are LinkedIn groups or Slack channels any good ? ➡️Social Media – Do you focus on Twitter, LinkedIn, you Tube or even TikTok? Genuinely think the UK is in need of a revamp in this area mate. There is nothing really out there. Name a magazine (digital) that's relevant. Name a website that gives information about trends, what's new, exciting projects. People still go to trade shows but I think most of it is now really just to network (which I'm not opposed to) rather than go to see new innovation. Most of the info I get is internal, around the companies I am involved in and the projects they are doing. But having something, somewhere, like a centralised point to go to is missing I feel. I might just be 'out the loop' but then again, I might not be 😊
Podcasts and short form video content for me, mate. Have next to no interest in reading newsletters anymore.
It’s becoming more difficult and diversified for sure and a single source of Independent information/ knowledge or information sharing would be a fantastic solution. Peer assessed or managed and reviewed with regular updates and access to the latest info would definitely be a winner 🏆
A mix of newsletters and podcasts are my go to, however it does feel like the UK is lagging when compared to the US say
Spend time with the smart ones :)
I'd have to say podcasts Steve Orton.
Sales Consultant/Commercial Agent
2moSteve Orton and the biggest problem is that the decisionmakers in retail are very often making decisions on poorly presented data thinking that is a trend when there isn’t one. Equally not seeing what is coming down the line and taking a punt. The problem this leads to as categories that still look the same in many retail outlets as they did 10 years ago. There might be some more bars and some more protein powders but invariably they are the same ingredients with a different wrapper! I see it day in and day out those retailers who are prepared to take a risk and (for use of a dreadful expression), think outside the box are the successful ones.
