‘Once bitten, twice shy’ doesn’t seem to be the case for the Competition and Markets Authority. Ged Futter asks how the Which? obsession with #supermarket prices and their alleged 'dodgy deals' has influenced public opinion. "They think customers are unable to think for themselves and see through retailer pricing tactics. There is evidence that this is utter rubbish – and it’s called market share." As a #GM at Dollar General, I can correctly #diagnose the #real #reasons they are #struggling. It is NOT because the "target #customer is one with an #income between 30 and 45 thousand a year and they are tapped out". It is an #inability to keep #employees, especially #GeneralManagers leave stores languishing, and then new #managers do not get the #support or #personnel #hours to #fix #stores. This leads to #burnout from 70-hour #work #weeks and #manager and #employee #turnover, and the #stores continue to #languish, with the biggest #issue being #customer #service. #Good #customerservice brings the customers in even on #tight #budgets because the #consumer still needs #staples such as #toiletpaper (#TP), #diapers, #food, etc. It is through good customer service that the customer chooses to #shop at a #store over the #competition. #DollarGeneral #DollarStores #BargainOutlets #Economy #Markets #DollarTree
