Really enjoyed today’s CIPD Talent Management & workforce planning conference. My key takeaways: 🗝️ Line Managers are the key to success (Invest in them so they can invest in others) ⏰ You need the time and tools to do it well (Managers & Employees need to have dedicated space & time to engage in talent management activities) ⚖️ EDI is a golden thread which needs to run through all talent activities (Be thoughtful and flexible to meet the individuals’ needs but maintain consistency and do something with the data. Monitoring alone isn’t enough) 🍎 Today’s technical skills have an increasingly short shelf life (Work out what you can build, rather than buy, and where borrowing or a bot makes the most sense) 🔮 How will you enable your organisation to succeed in the future world of work? (Future skills & talent requirements need investing in now but in agile ways to combat the pace of change & shelf life challenges) And finally, always have some milk and chicken in your fridge 😉
