"Entrepreneurship is a community sport," said Alec Whitters way back in 2014. It was true then, true in 1914, and true today in 2024. Building companies, launching startups, and putting an idea out into the world takes the entire community. We all have a role to play in supporting entrepreneurs from customers and partners to investors and service providers. What role can/do you play in supporting and championing our local entrepreneurs? We need you. Find out how our team is helping build the Cherokee entrepreneurship ecosystem and how we can partner together: https://lnkd.in/exkTKsVZ

Ameer Shujjah co-founder of Cadana joined Dare To Be Fearless this week to talk about leaving his job to pursue entrepreneurship👇 one of the main reasons people don’t build a company is because of the fear of leaving any and all security! We talked about: 1. Being an immigrant founder and building a business in America 2. Leaving corporate to build a tech startup 👀 3. How he raised millions for Cadana and got people to take interest in his idea I’m extra fascinated by the risks immigrant founders take. Link in comments ⬇️ #startup #tech #cadana

⏱️🛠️ HIDDEN GEM STARTUPS 🛠️⏱️ A pair of Arizona towns have been registered as “hidden gem” cities for entrepreneurs looking to launch companies away from the usual national hot spots, with Scottsdale landing at No. 2 while Yuma ranked No. 37. Northern Arizona University brings a constant influx of talent and research opportunities to Flagstaff. At the heart of this ecosystem lies the Moonshot incubator, empowering new ventures with essential resources, guidance, and funding connections. The Moonshot nonprofit organization in Flagstaff describes its motivation as making sure entrepreneurs have the same resources as those in major cities. Its mission is helping experts bring products and services to market and helping cities in rural Arizona and beyond develop entrepreneurial ecosystems. Though Yuma is further down the list, it is described as being strategically located near the California and Mexico borders. The western Arizona city is a great place for agriculture and logistics startups in particular, and that the Yuma Center of Excellence for Desert Agriculture is a key asset for entrepreneurs. The only city ranked ahead of Flagstaff was No. 1 Sebring, a central Florida town far from the state’s urban centers. Rounding out the top five cities are Monroe, Louisiana; Scranton, Pennsylvania; and Round Rock, Texas, just north of Austin. Most of the cities on the list were on the West Coast and in the Southwest. The analysis found that many of the cities on this list were in regions known for having strong educational institutions, lower costs of living and supportive local governments. Economic diversity and high quality of life were also key elements of hidden gem cities. #startup #flagstaff #yuma #entrepreneur #hiddengem #ericcook

Each morning, a tiny robin lands in our garden. On the same branch of the same tree. This robin could fly anywhere. Meadows, fields, endless opportunities. But it returns here. Every. Single. Day. Why? Because it knows my daughter will appear. Hand outstretched, offering it dried worms. It doesn’t waste energy. Chasing possibilities it doesn’t need. It understands focus. Avoiding the temptation to scatter its efforts. This robin know where real opportunity lies. In nurturing the right relationships. Most robins live for 2-6 years. However, many don't survive their first year. So, learn where your branch is. Show up. Every day. And build trust. To avoid this winter being your last. #startups

Skills Development for founders is essential. We think because they have a great idea that somehow they know how to run a business to achieve it, but as Debbie Irwin points out, many times they are lost and drowning in the business part of things. They have not been prepared to tackle HR, Finance, Sales, etc… they need our help to transform from knowledgeable domain experts to business owners.
